So you're pretty close, at least for the wild-west era, which is what the D&D economy is purportedly based on anyway. There was also a $1 one-ounce silver dollar, but I prefer to keep the 1:10 ratio for coins. Much easier to convert that way. Simple way to give a reason for mystarian exchange rates could be to make silver less common or gold more common then is be in the RW and bingo.
