Next real-world week (sunday), the war will be moving to the 7th week. Akesoli and Akorros have fallen, Corunglain and Darokin are besieged, and the legions have been depleted badly. But now the Glantrian expeditionary army is poised to relieve the Corunglain siege, and the Alfheim elves will soon mobilise, if the Darokinian ambassadors manage to defeat the Red Dragon that fled form Dragontree. The only real worry for the Darokinians is Ylaruam, whose kaliph has made territorial claims on Selenica, and tension in building in the eastern passes. And secretly in the hills of Atruahgin, four tribes are moving to the front, instigated by the agents of Hosadus... The idea of the updates is to show how the rule changes I sent to the list (check the Vaults) work. How much detail do you want in the updates? In G:KoM there is mention of a Nightwing at the Tower of Sighs under Jherek's control. Jherek was killed in the Net Almanac's Ethie Invasion. I do not have that almanac loaded on this machine, but I seem to recall the Nightwing being used in the invasion scenario. Was it killed? If not, what happened to it when Jherek fell? Did it go back to the Nightmare Plane or is it still in Glantri? I am staging part of one project in the Noble's Quarter of Glantri City. Suprisingly, housing is limited. I do not want to use a house on a map that should not be used. Any suggestions? Also in line with the Noble's Quarter, I plan on using the haunted Solvan Manor. Anyone know which house this is? I figure that since the Constabulary won't even go near it, neither will most residents. Hence it would be somewhat isolated from the other mansions in the quarter. I am looking at one of the mansions that has no direct neighbors. Afterall, who wants to live next to a haunted house? How receptive to tieflings do you think the Glantrians will be? They have the Progeny and monsters are fashionable. What type of fiends were used in the Net Almanac? Specifically, the ones that were in Ylaruam and went on a rampage. Tanar'ri or Baatezu? Gotta find my back up copies of the Almanac bad. I guess that is all. Thanks in advance for any answers or input. Alot of them I should have been able to answer if I had the resources available. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Nov 2001 13:14:47 +0000 From: Gilles Leblanc Subject: Re: Nomad War updates imminent > passes. One scenario would be that the Nightwing is under the control of the Supreme Judge of the Council (Jherek's charge until he died), hence it would still be at the Tower--and Princess Dolores (the present Supreme Judge) will be having a wicked time with it. The other scenario would be that it's Jherek's pet, perhaps from tne Demiplane of Nightmares, which he just housed at the Tower during his reign as the Supreme Judge. After his death, it could return to the Demiplane, or run amuck, or--fall under the power of Jherek's heir as the High Master of Dream Magic--Lady Lan-Syn. > I am staging part of one project in the Noble's Quarter of Glantri City. > Suprisingly, housing is limited. I assume you only have the GKoM map. If this is the case, see the right hand (Noble's Quarter) map on page 69. The Solvan Manor (unnamed in the GAZ), is directly southeast of the Silver Tower Inn. On the map, the house is drawn as squarish (a bit wider) with two cocentric circles in the center (a tower), and it seems its the only direct path by foot to the Silver Tower Inn. None of the surrounding houses are labelled in GAZ or GKoM, but I do not assume they are empty. My suggestion is they are either owned by antisocial, misanthropic, sychopathic wizards or necromancers, or they are rented to temporary visitors to the city--such as nobles from further dominions or students at the GSoM. > How receptive to tieflings do you think the Glantrians will be? Plus, the two references made about the nightwing seem to imply that the nightwing is a rumor in the public. Therefore, I went with it being something Jherek initiated. The trick is what happened to the Nightwing when Jherek died. The Nightwing description says that they can be summoned. But in the Dream Craft descript it is mentioned that a Dream Master can bring nightmare creatures back with him. If it was summoned I would say that it returned to the Nightmare Dimension. If it was brought I would say it is now stuck, needing Jherek or someone to take it back. I know I am overcomplicating things. But if I don't someone else will :-) > I am staging part of one project in the Noble's Quarter of Glantri City. > Suprisingly, housing is limited. I have the Glantri Gaz. I keep it stashed away among a pile of other Gazs. I usually try to avoid using the Gazs if I can. Many (Glantri included) are really showing their age and are quite delicate. Conversely, G;Kom and K:KoA are usuable and extend beyond AC 1000. Likewise, I can find new copies of either fairly easy. > How receptive to tieflings do you think the Glantrians will be? I have discussed this project in private mail with a couple folks (thanks for the help again) and I am aware that the introduction of Planar critters in Mystara may not be well recieved by all. I think that it is going to rather good. At the same time, it does not impose the PS setting upon Mystara. > What type of fiends were used in the Net Almanac? That's a difficult question, indeed. On one hand, there no mention of any special immunity against energy drain. On the other, the subject is never treated at all. Even the VR Guide to Fiends does not discuss this point. Surely, planeborns of all kinds are not exactly like prime races. OTOH, they are alive, not undead or something, even though they originate from the dead's souls. So, IMO, they should have no special immunity--also because no planeborne PC race has any immunity against energy drain. -- Giampaolo Agosta agathokles@libero.it agosta@elet.polimi.it http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Nov 2001 15:49:44 EST From: Alex Benson Subject: Re: A Few Questions Alex Benson wrote: > > tanar'ri/baatezu vs. vampire- the drain attack. how does the attack affect a > fiend? similar to a human or does the planar influence become involved?
