Also I ifnd it imprbable that Atru would send an Azcan to defeat the tiger clan when so few Azcan venerate him and live so far ( below ) when he has plenty of dedicated warriors right on the plateau. << Actually Atraughin was Atrautzin (an Azcan) before he became immortal. The clans of the Atraughin plateau are descendants of ancient Azcans who remained on the surface. Atrautzin himslef was a hollow world Azcan and during his quest for immortality he journeyed through the world shield (where he built the city of Aengmor) and then onto the surface (where he found the Atraughin tribes). IIRC there is actually an adventure somehwere (can't remember where at the moment - either in the Azcan Gaz, or the MA) that follows pretty much along the lines I outlined above. Also Atraughin does still have followers among the Hollow World Azca (although he doesn't pay much attention to them IIRC). They guard the HW end of the Mystical conveyor and are awaiting Atrautzin's return. It's not a far cry to imagein that he could also be included in the worship practices of the followers of 400 Rabbits (or whatever they are called), so I do think that Atraughin is an Azcan immortal. As to why Atraughin would send a hollow world follower to the surface there are several reasons. Perhaps as Giampaolo points out, Atraughin wants his follower to learn something from the surface world so that he can return with that knowledge to help his own people. Also the Toger/VIper clan is more similar to the Azcan culture than it is to the rest of the cultures on the plateau. It might be easier for a HW Azcan follower to blend in (and hence infultrait) the Tiger/VIper clan society. Also Atraughin has invested a lot of time in creating the Mystical Conveyor... it only makes sense that he has plans to use it in some fashion... John ===== Rule #53. What I meant is that atruaghin isnt very aztec like and cant be compared to an aztec god. On the outer world his faith is more native american like. Also most the followers of the New way in the Azcan empire think that the story of Atruatzinn alive and coming back is nothing more than an hopeful myth. Tough I find the idea of Atruaghin sending a follower to learn the ways of the outer world very interesting. Espcially since Atruaghin made such a voyage himself after having settled on the plateau. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2001 18:23:41 +0000 From: Gilles Leblanc Subject: Re: Playing time (survey #2) > 1) How often does your group play? > I have two Mystaran groups which each play once per week, the first we play a night ( from 3 to 5 hours ) and the others 2 hours during lunch in College. > 2) What is your average time frame per session?(1 day,1 week, 1month, 1 > year?) > It most often fall either in 1d3 days or several weeks. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2001 20:53:15 +0100 From: la Volpe Subject: Re: Gnomes of Mystara scott ludwig wrote: > Is there any consensus on what the Gnomes of Mystara are like--I'd like to > add them as a character race to my template. Moreover, I think they differ a lot from each other (I mean: Ice Gnomes from Sky Gnomes etc.). However, I suggest to check out what the supplement about the Flying City of Serraine (I don't remember the name) says about them. I think fire, ice, steam, etc. gnomes are not canon but you can find info by searching for gnomes on the Vaults of Pandius. Other sources of information might be the original monster stats for gnomes and the Karameikos gazetteer on Highforge ( for culture ). Funny you bring up gnomes as I was considering doing something with them but didnt know what. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2001 15:17:17 -0600 From: George Hrabovsky Subject: Re: Gnomes of Mystara Indeed, PC 2 has some info abou them. The only difference between Sky Gnomes and other Gnomes is that Sky Gnomes come from Serraine and have some skills related specifically to the place. Can't find anybody here (I'm away from home for college), so I'm mostly reduced to email games, though both of my games are stalled due to lack of time (actually I should be working on my GIS exit project right now but). Back when I had regular groups it was anywhere from 3 weekends a month down to once every other month. > > 2) What is your average time frame per session?(1 day,1 week, 1month, 1 = > year?) well for somereason my players in my main group almost always wanted to start from scratch each time (mostly because they kept forgetting there sheets) so most of our time was taken up with character creation. Normally we would be lucky if we stuck with it for a day or two of game time, though if there was a lot of travel we would get through more (Once they took a boat from Thyatis all the way to the neck of the serpent penninsula, so that took a lot of game time). Once a group I played with only every great once in a while rented a hotel room and had a all night session, we got through a lot of game time then.
