What the hell does an ESD's shipping policys have to do with getting the product. Of course it cannot be shipped, it's electronic. It is coppied or transfered. If someone can put up a decent case why shipping has nothing to do with the price of fish (hey, bad pun) we might all be able to get them. But then I am not a lawyer... anyone? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Check the list of the banned countries: _none_ of the current "great evils" is there... I dont really see the problem with a church having several immortals. The individual clerics could still serve different immortals belonging to the same church. As for having clerics follow more than one Immortal, that is the basic assumption in OD&D. With 3E though, you could let the cleric chose from spheres from the various immortals, although game balance should be kept in mind. Actually that would be domains rather than spheres for 3E clerics (as "sphere" is a 2e term unless it refers to the five Spheres of Energy, Matter, Time, Thought, and Entropy). But Deities and Demigods (3e version) describes the concept of a "tight pantheon" which would quite adequately describe the various "church" organizations mentioned in the earlier gazetteers. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 May 2002 23:40:13 -0700 From: Brendan Corliss Subject: Re: ESDs > > DA1: Adventures in Blackmoor ESD > > DA3: City of the Gods ESD > > DA4: The Duchy of Ten ESD > > OK. The Blackmoor series is cool. However, > there's not Temple of the Frog. It's on it's way. They definitely have it. I dropped it off at Jim Butler's house personally, along with the other three Blackmoor modules, about 6-7 months ago. There's also several other products that I donated (Poor Wizards Almanacs, Joshuan's, etc.) that I haven't seen an update an update on yet but I'm sure they'll be showing up eventually. Bastion (who is subcontracting the project for Wizards) is plugging along, but I think they only have two people actually scanning and converting... for all the products from all the settings. I know people want this stuff ASAP but they're working hard. Trust me, I want to see that stuff posted soon, myself - I donated 20+ products and won't see my copies on a CD till they've release them all (OK, OK, I'll stop trying to pat myself on the back before I sprain my shoulder). As to the whole international ESD debate, it's my understanding that Wizards and/or Hasbro has been lukewarm on the idea from the get go. I got a chance to talk to Jim for a few minutes when I dropped the stuff off and he said that Bastion wanted to eventually do the Boot Hill and Gamma World stuff on ESD as well as all of the D&D stuff. However, the "powers that be" were still waiting to see how things went before committing to anything more than the intial order of "x" number of products... Also, I heard a while back (not sure where) that another problem with int'l distribution (electronic and otherwise) was that back in the day, TSR had licensed the foreign rights to their products to a variety of different companies. Now, those companies have the right to determine whether or not that stuff gets released electronically... as well as the actual terms. This means that Hasbro/Wizards would have to deal with the foreign license holders and negotiate a new deal. Like I said, not sure if it's true but it seems as plausible as anything else so far. Now, as far as coinflicting stories from people at Wizards: don't be surprised. Each of the people who have told you anything porbably gave you the most accurate answer... to the best of their knowledge. But its a big company with lots going on - very few people (if anyone) usually knows the whole story. It's obviously a complex issue and they may in fact be dealing with it - just not as fast as many people would like. Two years may seem like a long time to us in the gaming community, but realisticly, such problems are rarely overcome in a shorter amount of time - even in the "McInformation Age". The bottom line is this: we all can have whatever expectations and feelings we want, but if Wizards/Hasbro thought they could make it economically feasible to make the ESD's available internationally right now, they'd do it. As much as we may not agree with many of their policies (including this one), they honestly aren't out to screw people over. And the reality is that if you don't make money you don't stay in business. Many gaming companies with noble ambitions have gone by the wayside because they weren't economically viable. It's sad, but true... Anyway, I'll step off my soapbox and just sincerely hope that the issue gets resolved soon so that EVERYONE can get access to the ESD's. -Damon aka Brendan Corliss Corliss Enterprises, Ltd. There's also some stuff in a couple of Dragon magazine's. I'm not sure which #'s but I believe there's an AD&D 1st Ed. era article that should be on the archive CD and there was another one right after 3E came out (also one on Elvish in an adjacent issue). -Damon --- Giampaolo Agosta wrote: > Larry wrote: > > > Has any one here done any work on a working > dwarvish > > language?
