I'd say they don't see him, else it would have been clearly stated in their description: See invisible (like IIRC the Nightshades have). Don't give too many powers to undead, they are already pretty tough, but you realize that spectres should be no match for 14th level characters with spells. ;) > 2) Spectres and sunlight > Are spectres fully nocturnal creatures? That is, can they be harmed by > sunlight, or does it dirve them away? The rules make no mention of this, > and this isn't a rule question, more a matter of opinion. uhm, I remember from Hollow World that there are no spectres, wraith or wights there, and the Entropics created the sunwight to populate it with these intelligent undead. So, deriving from this fact, I'd say spectres don't usually go around in sunlight: they have not an aversion to it like vamps have, but they distaste it so much that try to hide from it whenever possible. Say if they are forced to stay in sunlight they get penalties to all their rolls coz they are uncomfortable. > 3) Protection from evil and stealth > What if the elf wench decides to cast fly, invisibility and protection > from evil, and goes to scout the lair? Yes, that's exactly how Protection from Evil works, and yes I reckon it's incredibly powerful as 1st level spell. That's why many of my spellcaster PCs always have a fly and protection from evil spell permanent on them. It saved their butts many times with wraiths and others such creatures :) I don't see reasons to change it however: leave it as it is. > But I think the spectres could very well notice her at least if her protection > shield touched one of them. What do you think? I don't know... maybe the field shields even her "aura" so to speak.. and if she touched them, then the protection would be broken as if she attacked them and they could attack her (however she would still be invisible) > Another "protection from evil" question/suggestion: Ok, a person under > protection is invulnerable to "enchanted" creatures. INdeed u r right: if she pushes her way towards the spectres this will count as an attack and will break the protection offered by the spell. see? it has its limits after all ;) Oh, and btw Ville, congrats for your Binding Ritual ;) I hope you've found a fair incarnation of Valerias :p DM Senior Editor of the Mystaran Almanac Lt. AFAIK the Megalith idea was ignored--probably because of the introduction of the Hollow World setting--in the WotI set. -- Giampaolo Agosta agathokles@libero.it agosta@elet.polimi.it http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Jul 2002 13:46:17 +0000 From: Agathokles Subject: Sentient Races List - Addenda Hi all, here are a few sentient races that were omitted in the original list. As always, errata and additional ideas are welcome. G.P. Cryion A race of bat-like humanoids, the Cryions live (as their name suggest) in arctic climates. Their society is organized in clans, called mnelds. They have limited technology and few shamans, and are likely to be found around the polar openings in Mystara. References: Creature Catalog. Faedorne A race of enchanted female creatures, the Faedorne act as protectors of the elven race, favoring especially elven heroes. They live in Shining Isles, floating high in the skies. The Faedorne do not appear to have a society, though being powerful magic users they do have the means to keep in touch, even if they don't leave their islands. References: O2 Blade of Vengeance, Creature Catalog. Flitterling Another Wee Folk race, these diminutive pixies are found in large clans on the fungi rings in the Emerlas, and likely in other woodland regions controlled by friendly elves, Wee Folk, or sylvan beings. References: O2 Blade of Vengeance, Creature Catalog. Gakarak A variant on the Treant theme, the Gakarak are solitary and brooding creatures, the last survivors of past ages. Only large, ancient (pre-Blackmoorian) forests are likely to host a Gakarak. There are probably not enough of them left to have a true society. References: DA4 City of Gods, Creature Catalog. Garl This primitive human race existed during the early Blackmoor era. It is unlikely that they survived in the Outer World, but it is possible that they were moved to the Hollow World. Their society is tribal. It was so until the boxed set Hollow World came out. Mystara's hollow and there's another mini-world inside it, so it isn't possible for it to be a Monolith (since it has no core).
