Excluding Zandor and Eldrethila because of the well-known reasons, Ericall could obtain the crown simply becoming a Paladin (OD&D Rules) or adding a level as cleric (3E Rules): "Paris is worth a holy Mass!" ;-) Or perhaps Tredorian could have a "mystical crisis", becoming a cleric of ... ehm ... Alphaks (in other words Alphaks could take control of the good guy). And what if Zandor had a secret, illegitimate son? The Great Council of Alphatia. Really 1,000 36th level wizards (or, perhaps, simply spellcasters) aren't the most consistent element of the Mystaran setting; not to mention the 250 (more or less) 36th level wizards of Sclaras! Well, some of us think that substituting 36th level wizards with 18th or 20th level (or even 9th level) spellcasters would be a very reasonable choice; and also this solution can explain the presence of Shiye-Lawr Elves in the Great Council (as hinted in the Immortals' Fury adventure). Gossips: Barimoor. He who wants to achieve immortality following the path of the Paragon, among other things, must be acknowledged the superior of all other magic-users within a 1000 mile radius. So the shrewd Barimoor made his headquarters under Ylaruam, only to be sure to challenge thousands of wizard from Sclaras, Glantri and the Isle of Dawn... good idea indeed! 8-) Gossips: Gargantua (the wizard) Do you think Gargantua is mad? Do you believe that making a 52-HD troll is not the best way to spend your time and money? Well, I did before hearing Marco's deep study of the personality and goals of Gargantua. ;-) Gossips: Stefan Karameikos Some of us are quite skeptical about his real skill as ruler... Poor Wizard's Almanacs. The density of events in the last almanacs is quite astonishing (PWA 1017 is perhaps the best example), making almost impossible to follow what's going on in Mystara also for the most inquisitive and tireless bard! Giulio's idea was to spread all the events of a single almanac over two or three mystaran years (in this way, next almanac would be PWA 1019-21, but without increasing its bulk). > and we stopped just the time for enjoying an exquisite RW > lunch most kindly offered by Giampaolo's mummy. a memorable lunch... thanks again, Agathokles :-) Cheers Matteo ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 17:24:31 +0000 From: Agathokles Subject: Re: 2nd Mystaran Meeting held in Milano, Italy Matteo Barnabè wrote: > > A possible heir for Eriadna on the throne of Alphatia. > Excluding Zandor and Eldrethila because of the well-known reasons, Ericall > could obtain the crown simply becoming a Paladin (OD&D Rules) or adding a > level as cleric (3E Rules): "Paris is worth a holy Mass!" ;-) > Or perhaps Tredorian could have a "mystical crisis", becoming a cleric of > ... ehm ... The first two were, of course, in joke, as they would have been priests from the beginning, had thay had even a minimum of magical aptitude... As for an illegitimate son of Zandor, well, I think there is an high probability of one existing (Zandor is at least middle aged by 1010, IIRC). > The Great Council of Alphatia. > Really 1,000 36th level wizards (or, perhaps, simply spellcasters) aren't > the most consistent element of the Mystaran setting; not to mention the 250 > (more or less) 36th level wizards of Sclaras! > Well, some of us think that substituting 36th level wizards with 18th or > 20th level (or even 9th level) spellcasters would be a very reasonable > choice; and also this solution can explain the presence of Shiye-Lawr Elves > in the Great Council (as hinted in the Immortals' Fury adventure). My solution, weighted for AD&D2e: THE GRAND COUNCIL Requirements for the Grand Council of Alphatia Cast spells (clerical or wizardly) of 6th level or more or Be one of the Druids, Archdruids, the Grand Druid of Alphatia or a Hierophant Current members: ~400 "Lost" members: ~300 Applicant members: ~300 TOTAL ~1000 Applicant members have the ability to cast 5th level spells and have 17+ Int or Wis. Applicants have no voting power. THE WIZARDS OF SCLARAS All Thyatian Wizards able to cast 5th level spells have the right to request one of the Dominions. There are 250 estates. > Gossips: Gargantua (the wizard) > Do you think Gargantua is mad? Do you believe that making a 52-HD troll is > not the best way to spend your time and money? > Well, I did before hearing Marco's deep study of the personality and goals > of Gargantua. ;-) Indeed, Marco's ideas for Gargantua are definitely interesting. I assume he will share them with the list when he completes his study ;) Myself, I have a small alternate idea as well, bringing the same premise (Gargantua is someone who has gone beyond the boundaries of mortal men without becoming an Immortal) to a different conclusion. > Gossips: Stefan Karameikos > Some of us are quite skeptical about his real skill as ruler... Options that came out during the meeting include Von Hendricks becoming the new Duke after a civil war between the factions of the CoK, the Cult of Halav deciding that Von Hendricks is the true Halav reborn, &c. > Poor Wizard's Almanacs. > The density of events in the last almanacs is quite astonishing (PWA 1017 is > perhaps the best example), making almost impossible to follow what's going > on in Mystara also for the most inquisitive and tireless bard! > Giulio's idea was to spread all the events of a single almanac over two or > three mystaran years (in this way, next almanac would be PWA 1019-21, but > without increasing its bulk). Otherwise, it could be useful to have major event threads extracted from the Almanac (leaving there only the most relevant events of each thread), and developed independently. > > and we stopped just the time for enjoying an exquisite RW > > lunch most kindly offered by Giampaolo's mummy. > > a memorable lunch... thanks again, Agathokles :-) You're welcome :) (I had no part in preparing the lunch, so the "thanks" goes directly and entirely to my mother ;) ) -- Giampaolo Agosta agathokles@libero.it agosta@elet.polimi.it http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 17:34:24 +0000 From: Agathokles Subject: Re: Culinary Overview of Mystara, cont... Uhm, I think most food should last little, since the Chef should not make (or be able to confer magical properties to, if you prefer) intermediate products, like wine. He'd do spiced wine, perhaps, with magical properties, but not wine (which requires a Winemaker, or the Wizard of Wines ;) ) -- Giampaolo Agosta agathokles@libero.it agosta@elet.polimi.it http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 22:47:39 +0100 From: Peter Scrivener Subject: Mystaran meetings around the world. All this talk of people meeting up to discuss Mystara in Italy has got me to wonder how many others are there from the U.K. on this list. If there are, then are any of you going to Gen Con UK next month and also would you fancy meeting up. The way their meeting in Italy went it seemed like an absolute riot. So anyone else out there (sorry to any non UK people for the non relevance of the message). __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
