There are two other canon sources that may be of interest: X10 Red Arrow, Black Sheild which covers the invasion of darokin by the masters forces and Wrath of the Immortals (WotI). There is a fair bit of non-canon info out there that you might find useful as well. The key to understanding the master in my mind is understanding the motives behind the empire of hule. Hule worships Bozdogan (actually Loki) an entropic immortal, and as all immortals, loki desires to spread his worship. This is a difficult task for entropic immortals. Loki has mannaged to create a nation of chaotic tricksters like himself, but has done so in a way that has order and can actually function (which is quite a feat). Essentally most of Hules actions are as a pawn of Loki. The Master himself takes "commands" from loki and carries them out, causeing strife and conflict along the way and thus spreading the worship of Loki. Hules general stratagy is to invade its naughbours when it has enough strength. If it is beaten back it licks it's wounds for a while then tries again. Hule is not particually interested in the Savage coast because of the Red curse, and there is not a lot of oppitunities to the west, so hule at this time is trying to gain more lands to it's east. Sind being a poor nation is not a major player in the KW, however it does serve as a gateway between Hule and the Knowen World, so with sind under it's belt the master would be free to launch attacks into the KW and gain richer lands and expand it's empire. I would also recommend a visit to the vaults for ideas if you haven't been there already. Try: http://dnd.starflung.com/hule.html These are things that have been written in the past on this list in relation to hule. > Thank you very much, No problem, hope it helps. Here's how to calculate the square mileage: 0.866*x^2 (which is sin 60*x^2), where x is the hex size. So, 8 mile hex = 55.4 sq. mi. 24 = 499 sq. mi. 72 = 4489 sq. mi. Or, if you know the length of the side of a hex, you can use length*1.5x. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thibault Sarlat" To: Sent: Sunday, August 04, 2002 5:20 PM Subject: [MYSTARA] how much square miles for an 8 miles hex? > hello fellow members, i need this info to pursue my intensive mapping of > norwold > how much square miles for an 8 miles hex? > and for a 24 miles hex > and for a 72 miles hex? > > thanks for the help. > > > Thibault Sarlat. > ICQ 16622177. > homepage http://www.mystara.fr.st > Join me at:thibault.sarlat@wanadoo.fr;clenarius@hotmail.com > > ******************************************************************** > The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp > The Mystara Homepage: http://www.dnd.starflung.com/ > To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM > with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. > > ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 3 Aug 2002 to 4 Aug 2002 (#2002-200) **************************************************************
