Considering that the Traladarans are descended from the Traldar (Mystaran version of Dorian Greeks, according to the HW boxed set), I think there is plenty of scope to include creatures from Greek myths. Perhaps these creatures were revered in the old days, and simply retreated deeper into the forests following the fall of the Traldar?
