It could be possible, but how long would a city of rafts be able to survive (in the Sea of Dread!) and remain undetected (from navies as powerful as Thyatis, Minrothad and Ierendi)? I don't know if Kron could really be 1600 years old! I'd therefore go for a more recent origin, perhaps from people fleeing from the Thyatian colonies in Ierendi, with later additions of Minrothaddan and Ierendian exiles. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Aug 2002 18:15:28 -0400 From: Christopher M Cherrington Subject: Re: Taymor and Varellya > > It could be possible, but how long would a city of rafts be able > to survive (in the Sea of Dread!) and remain undetected (from > navies as powerful as Thyatis, Minrothad and Ierendi)? > I don't know if Kron could really be 1600 years old! > I'd therefore go for a more recent origin, perhaps from people > fleeing from the Thyatian colonies in Ierendi, with later > additions of Minrothaddan and Ierendian exiles. > If the rafts stayed south of the Isle of Dread, until recently, they could have remained undetected for a very long time. Maybe Kron's rafts were broken up from a larger colony still south of the Isle of Dread. (Storm, Politics, Immortal Meddling). If they were Thyatian with additions from Ierendi and Minrothad, I do not believe they would be so bold as to attack Minrothadian Ships (they would know better). ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Aug 2002 08:12:14 +0200 From: Giampaolo Agosta Subject: Re: Taymor and Varellya Christopher M Cherrington wrote: > > If the rafts stayed south of the Isle of Dread, until recently, they could > have remained undetected for a very long time. Yes, but a raft city needs to be near some trade route where they can get (from plunder) all those materials they can't grow or mine on the high sea. > If they were Thyatian with additions from > Ierendi and Minrothad, I do not believe they would be so bold as to attack > Minrothadian Ships (they would know better). According to the module, they don't, as the hook for the PCs is a series of attacks on Minrothaddan and Ierendi ships. -- Giampaolo Agosta http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 27 Aug 2002 to 28 Aug 2002 (#2002-224) ****************************************************************
