I had been certain that someone had done geomancy, so I checked the Vaults, and found that John Hare had done a writeup for the Order of Stone Breakers, who are described as a splinter group of geomancers, having rebelled against the majority of geomancers not long after the Alphatians arrived on Mystara. You can find the file at: dnd.starflung.com/stone.html So, it appears that the geomancers have never been fully detailled, themselves. What could be done, however, is to go through the spell list for the Stonebreakers, and pull out those spells that are not too specific to the avowed purpose of that group (mainly those related to construction). What remains would be a good basis for geomancer spells, and then you could add a couple of new spells to replace those that were removed. Perhaps not the ideal solution, but it would save a fair bit of work. I don't think I would be able to do that at the moment, but perhaps in the near future I can turn my attention to it. That is how I handle players who wish to bring in other religions ... turn the religion into a cult. There are all sorts of drawbacks to being in a cult. She will have to travel thousands of miles to get training, for one. She is also the closest to an amazon I allow in my campaign. She is not a barbarian as her culture is extremely old. Everyone reads, writes, even the children as education is greatly valued. However few others outside her lands still know her language and of course, there are major cultural differences. She is traveling from the Savage Coast and has hired an honorbound as a guide. However, with the language problems, he thinks he's an escort. GRIN So, even though she is a cleric, and of noble birth, I am thinking she won't be received well. KS Original Messages-- So, how do you think a lone woman warrior/cleric would fare? Going to have one going thru there in my campaign. Clerics are upper class, as are Warriors and Wizards. They are quite powerful, and VotPA says the common Sindian manage to survive thanks to the help of these clergymen. Women don't seem to have a different status from males, at least in the upper classes. There are few examples of Sindhi characters, but one of them is a Rani (queen). IIRC, she has several husbands, and is a strong supporter of the Rajahdhirajah (overking/emperor). This works for a native character. For foreigners, here is a piece of advice from VotPA: "Foreigners often have difficulties traveling in Sind because of the incredible number of customs and beliefs that affect every aspect of the daily life. Ignoring a custom, deliberately or accidentally, can provoke anger among the population." -- Giampaolo Agosta agathokles@libero.it agosta@elet.polimi.it http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.dnd.starflung.com/ To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Well, since she's a foreigner, she'll have plenty of time to put herself in danger in Sind, especially if some of her cult's practices go against established Sindi habits. On the other hand, she won't have many problem for being a priest, a warrior, or a woman, per se. -- Giampaolo Agosta agathokles@libero.it agosta@elet.polimi.it http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Sep 2002 18:27:38 +0000 From: Agathokles Subject: Taymoran website Hi all, I've put the map and the other Taymoran files online here: http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles/taymora.htm The Timeline has some minor adjustments from the original version. I was wondering if anyone knows of any class construction resources out there, like a website or dragon article or something. I'm having a little trouble determining how to balance things out.
