Right away I see some feats that would work great for Thyatis and Darokin. I also like the Alchemist class, which I reposted on my websight, for use with the Highforge Gnomes and Glantrian Alchemists. The swashbuckling really works for Red Steel environment. The Deadlands is also a good fit for some nations in the RedSeel that use firearms. However, I think that firearms is always something that D&D is not acustomed. A chemical propelled bullet traveling faster than the speed of sound, is simply going to penetrate armor. There would need to be an adaption rule to allow this to work, such as damage (to bypass damage resistance) and also nullify's any armor bonus except dodge bonsuses. I am running my own Wild West d20 campaign outside of Mystara realm (no magic world), using Side Winder Wild West Adventure (Citizen Games), which I find very very well define, mechanically, artwork, writing style, theme, and mood, as well as historical accounts. I am combining non-magical aspects of DeadLands d20 into my mini-campaign. Perhaps later, after I run a historical campaign, I might integrate the experience into RedSteel. One thing to consider though, is that any inventions and such, will spread across the world like wild fire. Thyatians and Heldannic Knights will most certainly get a hold of the technology right away, and RedSteel will become the biggest hotspot in the world. This mimics real world scenario of colonization, as gold is not so valuable in Mystara, but Red Steel will be equivelent to the Real World's gold. One could imagine the Red Steel cultures to be ravaged, much like natives were in the Real World. DeadLands adds a gunslinging fantasy element, and Side Winder adds realism and also the Wild West culture. - Joaquin PS - The MadScientist would be really great for gnomes. Also the video game Arcanum sports many ideas as well. :-) > I have avoided the Deadlands setting, mostly because > it just didn't > appeal to me in the least. > > However, recently, I just purchased AEG's > Swashbuckling Adventures D20 > hardcover book.
