Hello, Would anyone have some good ideas about a high-level one-shot adventure in Ierendi. IMC the PCs, acting as Darokinian ambassadors, will visit Minrothad and Ierendi in the next gaming session. (On behald of Darokin during the Nomad War.) Minrothad will be an easy task, since they have already played X7 & X8, plus one longer campaign relating partly to the safety of Minrothadian shipping. So it is easy for them to get Minrothad on their side. Ierendi will be tougher. They have actually saved the princess (in X7), but that has smaller political meaning since the royal house is the puppet of the Ierendian aristocracy. In X10 there is a small encounter to be used in Ierendi, but I don't like it, and it doesn't fit the tone of my campaign. Still, I'd like the PCs to have some adventures in Ierendi, as an interlude before they embark on the final stages of the X10 campaign. So I'd appreciate any ideas. I don't have the Gazetteer, so there is very little to go on. Still, I'd like the PCs to have some adventures in Ierendi, as an interlude before they embark on the final stages of the X10 campaign. So I'd appreciate any ideas. I don't have the Gazetteer, so there is very little to go on. << Well, aside from all of the silly fantasy island stuff, Ierendi is about pirates. The Stalker, Max Monas, and myself put out an adventure a while ago that dealt with Ierendi pirates. It was one part of a 4 part adventure, and it was realy tailored for lower level characters, but with a litle tweaking I think you liven it up a bit and fit it for your campaign. You can probably find the adventure on the Vaults, as well as at the old Tome of Mystara site. Or if you like I can send you the word file directly. Here is a synopsis of the adventure (based off of a mini adventure from the Ierendi Gaz): The mini adventure went thusly: An ex pirate named Dak had in his possesion an old magical figurehead. The figurehead was actualy a female pirate (IIRC called Moana the Beardless) who was cursed by a wizard for not telling him the location of her treasure. The curse will be lifted when she finally does tell someone where the treasure is, and she will promptly be transformed back into her human form then. Dak sets up underwater advnetures for people so that they will have the experience of finding pirate treaseur on the sea bottom. Somehow the PCs stumble upon this situation and can try to convince the figurehead (and Dak) to reveal the location of her treasure. I added a few more plot twists to this basic premis: 1) Before the story is introduced throw out some clues about an ancient pirate and her, as yet, unfound treasure hoard. Perhaps this is tavern talk, or something an ancient loremaster whould know. Somehow however, it is important for the PCs to actualy se a picture of this pirate so that they know what she looks like. 2) A woman pirate (calling herslef Moana the Fair) has been increasing her actiities in the area. Perhaps she is a descendant of te original Moana, or perhaps she is just someone exploiting the legends. Whichever the case may be she looks strikingly like the original - anyone who has seen a picture of Moana the Beardless will think she is a dead ringer. 3) Dak the (ex-pirate) boat renter knows about the figurehead and has been trying unsuccessfully to get it to reveal the location of its treasure. He is also a lot less ex-pirate than he claims to be. He also knows about Moana the Fair and believes that the figurehead will reveal its secret to that female pirate. Dak sets up the PCs to bring Moana the Fair into contact with the figurehead. Once the figurehead reveals its secret it is transformed into Moana the Beardless. The two Moanas will head off to find the treasure (Moana the Beardless will betray Moana the Fair the first chance she gets, perhaps trying to steal away the loyalty of her crew in the bargain). Dak will make sure to be on hand when the secret is revealed and he and his gang can rush to the treasure's location and try to get it first. In the meantime an all out pirate war can break out over who gets the treasure, and perhaps the PCs will be caught in the middle. If they can shut down 2 pirate groups they would have the gratitude of (at least most of) the Ierendians and perhaps a few neighboring nations as well. There is also a treasure to plunder and it can contain whatever item they might need to further their quest (we threw in one of Stalker's creations to further our own plots). Hope that splashes up a few ideas. -John ===== Rule #85. I will not use any plan in which the final step is horribly complicated, e.g. "Align the 12 Stones of Power on the sacred altar then activate the medallion at the moment of total eclipse." Instead it will be more along the lines of "Push the button." from "A Guide to Becoming an Evil Overlord" by Peter Anspach __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? After the confinement of the Outer Beings, the True Gods of the Normal Tetraspace pondered what to do of their part of the Cosmos. They had won a battle, but not the war, as they knew the Outer Beings would strife with all their stength to regain their lost dimension, and eventually they could succeed. The easiest way to succeed was probably to regain the strenght through the Belief of their followers. Fortunately, the strongest among them were "discontiguated" (cut off from one of the dimensions) and thus they were not able to provide enough Belief to free the Outer Beings. However, the Outer Beings could still, with their powers, reach the minds of the Athanatoi that knew about them and influence them to the point they could switch their loyalty. It had already happened during the long Battle, so it could happen again in the future. The True Gods were divided on what they should do then. A major group decided to retire from an active presence in the Cosmos, to watch over their creation and see what would happen. Some tried to cross the Vortex boundary, to understand its nature and maybe find what lays behind their creation. Others remained distant and aloof, but still present, inactive and neutral in the cosmic struggles, although they vowed to return to activity if and when the Outer Beings regained their freedom. The other Gods split in two: one group wanted to continue the war against the Outer Beings until they managed to ultimately defeat them, no matter the risks; among them were the True Gods that later assumed an Immortal Identity as Thanatos and Odin. The other group thought that the Outer Beings were nearly impossibilitated to act in any way against the creatures of the Normal Tetraspace, and that instead of risking what they have gained in the war it was better to leave them to live in their suspended state; among these were those that would take the names of Terra, Protius and Ixion. The situation remained confused for some time, as the True Gods confronted each other on what to do, while their retired brothers watched in silence and expectation, holding their neutrality. The "Pacifist" group began to change the Cosmos according to their idea, bending with their terrific powers the boundaries of the Normal Tetraspace, creating a void between Planes filled by the bending of the Lesser Vortexes that separate the various groups of Outer Planes, and the Ethereal to separate the Prime Planes - this to prevent any "dangerous influence" in the future: they thought that dividing the Tetraspace in smaller Multiverses, if a war against the Outer Beings would ever take place, then only a part of the Tetraspace would be involved, and at least a part could resist. They didn't think that the Outer Beings would ever be able to escape themselves, but they feared that the "Aggressive" group of True Gods that wanted a war against the Outer Beings could be able to wage another war - and were not so sure about the outcome as their brethren. The "Aggressive" group had mixed feelings about the decision of their brethren, and reacted in different ways. Some, like Odin, thought that they hadn't other choice but bow to the new Order of things, because they had to avoid a war between themselves, as they didn't know what the consequences could be (remembering that the first time Gods disagreed, the Cosmos was split in two and they lost most of their powers, and the war against the Outer Beings were a result of this). Others, like Thanatos, decided to throw down the Order of the Tetraspace, destroy any opposing Gods and guide all the others to war against the Outer Beings, to get rid of them once and for all - or be crushed trying. ______________________________________________________________________ Mio Yahoo!: personalizza Yahoo! come piace a te http://it.yahoo.com/mail_it/foot/?http://it.my.yahoo.com/ ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 8 Oct 2002 to 9 Oct 2002 (#2002-264) **************************************************************
