I dont have the module around anymore, but I have been thinking about this character for some time. My short story "Masked One Unmasked" available on dnd.starflung.com presents some of my ideas on Sverdlov. I'm not sure if any of that will be useful for whatever projects you need this info for, but I'd be interested in discussing this character further if you want. Good to know that the discussion has been useful. I collected a few comments to your mail, answers to your questions etc. - You asked about the major wars that the elves have been involved in prior to 1000 AC. Around 501-504 AC was the Elfwar between "Darokin" and Alfheim, but the elven histories don't usually even mention it. By their standards it was just "a game". Then in 550 the wizard Illodius invaded the forest via magical gate, sending hordes of goblinoid- like beasts. The attack must have been powerful, since it scarred the forest itself - creating the opening where Alfheim city was built. In 560 Alfheim/Darokin alliance crushed the shadowelf invasion. In years/decades/centuries before and after this, the shadowelf agents also sent hordes of humanoids to attack the forest, but with little lasting damage, except the unknown number of lost lives. Apart from the briefly mentioned Orcwars of 800- (in which the elves must have taken part), there isn't knowledge of major wars before the onset of the "Almanac" and "Wrath of the Immortals" timelines. They, of course, include lot of wars and the destruction of Alfheim as a nation. but since I've never even read the stuff (and if you haven't), I suggest that you look at the compiled timelines and Almanacs at Vaults of Pandius. In the Atlas section there's a lot of stuff on Alfheim, anyway. But basically, the 200 las years have been pretty peaceful. Still, one must remember that a lot of elves see combat during guard duty by the bad magic points, adventuring and in the fringes of the forest. I think they and the militaristic Red Arrow Clan make up the bulk of the approximately 5000 strong (wartime only!) army. (Coincidentally enough, your Inhuman Wars seemed to take place right about the time of the Orcwars, even though they really sounded a lot tougher than the Orcwars pictured in the tongue-in-the-cheek game in the Orcs of Thar Gazetteer.) - About the makeup of the Elven army: They have 7 "irregular" units, which are comprised of "artillery" (offensive magic), melee (defensive magic and low grade offensive magic) and scout (hiding and divination magic) regiments. They receive training during time they serve in hotpoints of the forest (see above), but rarely collect together. The Red Arrow clan, traditionally militaristic and highly capable, is an exception. Their fighters are very well trained, and must form the backbone of the army. The troops ride elven warhorses, use elven longswords and bows (semi-magical equipment - not actually magic items but able to hit "by magic weapons only" -targets). - The CM7 module "Tree of Life" describes the lost homeland on the Elves, situated in the western coasts of the Brun continent (the same continent Alfheim is in). The elven clans that established Alfheim had migrated from "The Sylvan Realm", leaving the Feador clan behind. Later the evil wizard Moorcroft invaded the Sylvan Realm, and some of the Feador clan left for Alfheim, leaving the rest of the elves to a grim destiny. The module describes the return to the Sylvan Realm, and attempts to liberate the elves. (More info on the older D&D products, even summaries, can be found by searching the web. One example is Marco Delmonte's page at:) http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Dungeon/2967/ - The Oenkmarians are a large community of humanoids, who live in an isolated underground city (it drifts around in a sea of lava, so it IS pretty isolated). Their society is highly developed and centres around an evil cult. You can find the stuff in the Orcs of Thar Gazetteer - although it is pretty hard to find a copy nowadays, I think. By the way, just to compare you campaign with the "canon" one (which everyone is of course at liberty to change - like when you included Warhammer humanoid races), the leader of Broken lands, king Thar, is said to be able to raise a horde of 20 000 humanoids from the Broken lands and the surrounding mountain communities. (Mentioned in the Rockhome Gazetteer) They are however of low quality and training. - Ethengar is mostly hostile to the humanoids, but one of the Khans has been working secretly with the humanoids. Such "traitorous" plans might be a good way to explain the food trade - or, the Ethengarians may just decide to help the humanoids in order to "soften" the other countries for their future invasion plans...
