Just to give us a general overwiev of whats been going on there lately. Anyone up for the job? A continuation of Daniel Boese's Unofficial Timeline of Mystara, which I think stops at JA? That would be most interesting and useful. ===== ___________________________________________________________ Herve Musseau http://www.geocities.com/hmusseau/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? George, I am taking yours and Geoff's account of the matter. Both run along similar lines and I really don't remember. Obviously any proposed alliances or whatever with the Emerond were briefly discussed and not priority to me. Otherwise I would have remembered them as they would have been more drawn out and discussion more lengthy. Anyway, thanks to you as well for adding some input on what was said way back then. I don't remember. I don't recall demanding their joining Nace. I may have suggested an alliance based on the Thyatian conflict scenario. I implemented covert aid from Nace nationals to Twaeler forces. Of course a counter pro-Thyatian event was inserted to nullify that action. Like many of the Thyatian events, I only discovered that one after the MA went public. The Thyatian Team had full access to Alpher Events. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Mar 2002 15:15:58 +0100 From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Havard=20Faanes?= Subject: Dwarves of Mystara _Dwarves of Mystara_ Physical Description Dwarves are short and stocky. They stand about 4’ tall, weighing about 150 pounds. Make dwarves wear long beards. Their skin is ruddy or earth colored and their hair is dark brown, gray or black. Contrary to common myth, Dwarven females do not grow beards. Age Dwarven lifespan averages about 200 years. Some dwarves have been known to live as long as 275 years. Dwarves divide their life into 50 year periods: Youth: Dwarves are considered children for the first 20 years. At around 20 they have grown into adult size and are ready to enter trade. At this age all dwarves enter an apprenticeship, the military, the clergy or or go on Learnings. Adulthood Dwarves of 50 years and older are expected to become adult members of their community. Many marry and commence families at this time. Seniority Dwarves of middle age (100+) are expected to pass on whayt they have learned. They teach the childre, write manuals of instruction, chronicle histories, correspond with dwarves and non-dwarves outside their homelands etc. Veneration This is the last stage of a dwarf’s life. They are treated with respect and are not expected to do anything. Typically, they go on working or teaching, when they become too old to perform such tasks, they usually dwindle away and die. Personality Dwarves are often stubborn, but practical, and they are always found of good food and drink. They value craftsmanship and love gold. Most of all Dwarves value work. Laziness is practically unknown among dwarves. Love and Marriage Nearly 40% of all dwarves die unmarried, too wrapped up in their work to live family lives. Dwarves are not particularily romantic. Political circumstance, common interests, opinions and temperament are the most important considerations when a dwarf is looking for a mate. Religion Dwarves worship Kagyar, the Artisan. Kagyar created the dwarven race and he is revered as the chief patron of dwarves in the Known World. Denwarf, the legendary Hero-King plays an important role in Dwarf mythology. Many dwarves await his return. Some dwarves also honor Garal Glittergold, creator of the Gnomes. Dwarven Cultures Thyatis: Farkres (“Fangs of Destruction”) The Farkres clan migrated from Rockhome to Thyatias centuries ago, settling in what would become Buhr..? Karameikos: Torwyrdar (“Stronghollow”) The Torwyrdar clan was formed by various dwarves living in Karameikos. Most of these dwarves live in the Gnomish community of Highforge. Rockhome Clans: Buhrodar (“Order of Golden Battle”) The Burhodars are a Theocratic clan. They believe that the government of Rockhome should be in the hands of the clerics of Kagyar. Everast (“High Mountain”) The Everast dwarves are skilled in the trades of diplomacy and administration. Everast clan families are aristocratic, but also very accomplished at organization and rulership. Hurwarf (“Caveborn”) The Hurwarfs are a very isolationist clan. They are merry and industrious, but very suspicious of non-dwarves. Hurwarfs are good miners, engineers and explorers of cavern systems. Skarrad (“Ironforge”) The Skarrad families are experts in the advancement of architecture and engineering. They are also known for their developments in the creation of machinery and technology. They see the pursuit of mechanical and technological science as the way to gain an advantage over other humanoid races. Syrklist (“Silverlight”) The Syrklists are traders, miners and craftsmen. They are disinterested in politics except to keep restriction on trade and mining light and tolerable. Torkrest (“Strongtooth”) Torkerst is a clan of warriors. This clan dominates the important positions in the Rockhome military. Wyrwarf (“Born to Hunger”) This is a common name for a variety of lower-class families in Rockhome. Criminals, outcasts and farmers belong to this group. Half-Dwarves No half-dwarves are known to exist. Either it is genetically impossible to create half-dwarves, or its just that dwarves and other races never considered the possibility of breeding. Other Races of Dwarves The Moulder Dwarves live deep underneath the Northern Reaches, their existance hidden from the peoples of the surface. Moulder Dwarves were also created by Kagyar of unknown reasons, yet they have turned away from their creator and practice dark magical rituals. ______________________________________________________ Sjekk snørapporter... fra 500 ski-destinasjoner i Europa på http://no.snow.yahoo.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Mar 2002 09:01:34 -0800 From: "Jenni A. The reason I ask is that, while the M3E project expects to leave the Dwarf race "as is" in the 3E rules, it would be nice if we could provide a "Full Description" of them as we have for Gnomes and Elves, and this information would be a great place to start from.
