You may wish to look up what Andrew Theisen wrote about the Pachydermions of Patera - not because they would necessarily be the same culture, but because it might be interesting to develop some sort of link between the two groups, which could be explored through an adventure or two. Anybody ? I never did much with that area, save that in my writeup for the history of Varellya, I created that nation to be the homeland of those who fled the crumbling empire in ancient times. Now, nothing has been done with it since then, so you're more than welcome to develop it as you wish. Remember, though, that there wasn't much about Davania that was "official" (at least in TSR terms), so if you want to drop the pachydermions into the Adakkian Sound region instead of using my materials, go ahead! :-) Geoff -- Geoff Gander, BA 97, MPA 02 Carnifex Loremaster/Mad Roleplayer Master of the Elemental Plane of Bureaucracy au998@freenet.carleton.ca : www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Realm/2091 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 16:54:36 +0200 From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Havard=20Faanes?= Subject: Re: Davania cities on thib's map You don't have to ask for permission to claim any land on Davania, friend. If your stuff is better than whatever others have placed there before you I bet people will use your stuff over theirs. Or we could just relocate it and fit it into whatever sourrounings fit best for the individual's campaign. Ive always liked the parchydermions. There is a p-society on the Invisible Moon IIRC, aswell as some minor settlements in Thyatis (Not sure where I heard that), but they definately belong on Davania too. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you've got. Havard --- Stone Marshall skrev: > If its ok with everyone on the list, I would like to > lay claim to an area in > Davina. During this battle, Rad gets engulfed by the NoS Machinized into the sphere, but was rescue by one of the Old Ones, The reroute has one huge effect, it caused Alphatia to be wiped from the face of Mystara, this required so much magic, they it drain Mystara of all it's magic for one week. This disaster was known as the Week Without Magic. I call it the one significant event i mystara's history that would start the Technology Revolution, in fact the Day of Dread which is another day without magic that takes place at the end of the year, would be one of the few reason, why i would think the wheels of progress are starting to move a little more faster than before now a days ! than in the Pre-WOTI era of mystara, where technology might have been stagnant at the time. Unless someone is said to have actually visited it it could be as speculatory as the map from the masters set (generally assumed to be a thytainian map showing countries as thyatis perceived them (which was not very accurate). basically could be as little as old wives tales. In fact, having just looked at the map that area (all the way from a section on the north cost and with no southern border but the number given right where the desert is shown in the RC and with Izonda to it's west and Brasol to it's east) is given as being the Matriarchy of Palatan. I would be inclined thus to say that both these reports are speculation based on rumors from other cultures. And even if someone does have the overwhelming urge to detail an Amazonian culture I'm sure there is plenty of room for both. Hell in the masters set map most of the northern cost is given over to "the four kingdoms" which are actually the hinterlands as far as I have been able to tell and are pretty much tribal and not that big. Conclusion: I think we have a winner?
