Then the Isle of Dawn people are Irish or Scottish. It would seem that the people in the Thyatian area are more Scottish, while those under the Alphatian rule look more Irish. Of the other Celtic areas of Mystara, the Thyatian Hinterlands are more primitive, so it is more difficult to find a national character there. Robrenn is obviously based on French Gallia, and the Kaelic are Scots, of course. I don't think there are more Celts, save perhaps some in the North-Western Wastelands or beyond the Adri Varma. Those would be based on "eastern" Celts, though. > 2. How do we explain the similiarities of the Kaelic of Klantyre and certain > city-states in the Isle of Dawn? I remember a document written in character from the point of view of Brannart McGregor on the topic, which assumed some degree of "convergent evolution". A solution is to assume that the same powers/immortals who make up a certain pantheon might want to preserve certain cultural traits, and even a tongue, among their following on different worlds. Can't seem to find it through Google, except for the a line in Polakatsikes' entry in the last few MAs. If there's any, it's well hidden ;) Bye, GP -- di nuovo come un tempo sopra l'Italia intera urla il vento e soffia la bufera ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Jul 2003 21:09:19 +0200 From: Thibault Sarlat Subject: Re: Wolfgang Stemmel profile well then since I only got info from Thyatian sources (and everyone knows what it's worth...;+] ) i'll take the liberty to make one to fit my campaign and share it with you all later. I was wondering how to find out how much it costs, how much can a person mine, how much it costs to pay the person, how much profits, how much taxes, etc.? This would be good for assessing how much say Highforge gnomes and Stronghollow dwarves can make for a given mine. I wanted to determine how much revenue one can generate from a mine. -- Joaquin __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I wanted to explain my long silence. :-) Well, first and foremost, the problem with gaming, buying and finding time to play for me is the American economy. I live in Silicon Valley, and over 360,000 engineers are laid off. It's affected me personally. I tried to start a gaming group, but many are flakes, due to extreme constraints of forever seeking employment, or being overworked because employees do the work of 2 to 8 people and work excessive overtime. I did get a few good moments: http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/ShadowTriad/vs1.html http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/ShadowTriad/voi1.html http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/ShadowTriad/er1.html Amongst the chaos, including my laptop (Powerbook Titanium) getting stolen, I decided to focus on college and playing War Craft III. :-) I took 25 units in English, Japanese, Java, SQL, and Perl. I am going to reuse some of these skills in developing more well written material, and creating D&D3e character generator. I was taking a look at D&D version 3.5. It looks a lot better, but it is very expensive, I cannot justify purchasing it. I wish I could buy an electronic errata with the changes, or at least an electronic version. Carrying these stack of books just seems ridiculous, especially for DMs with laptops. Anyone else around? What are your activities? Any successful games? Anyone using D&D3e in Mystara setting? -- Joaquin __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
