Even though it is sad to see Mystaros' project shipwreck this way, I wouldn't be that pessimistic on Mystara itself: I mean, it's not likely that we will se anything new for the setting, _but_ it has been that way since what, 1995? Yet we are here, and many of us still use the world for our games. I think that the current strength of Mystara lay more with the fans (us) than with any chance of being published -- I could point you tons of great fan stuff, starting from the Almanacs and all the way to the Tome of Mystara or the Mystara Map Navigator or OD&Dties and so on. One of the nice things about this message list is knowing that NO attached files are allowed.
I also have this email address selected so that ONLY messages from the MML can get to this inbox. Not that this would work for everyone but it is very nice to have my Mystara messages all together, in order, and no spam mixed in with the emails. My advice to people on this list would be to have a private email just for the list.

On the subject of Hackworld. It really sux that I was getting all excited about this release. Having recently moved on to 3.5(never got the 3.0 books) I was looking forward to using the book as a reference for Mystara. I hope someone will take up the challenge of finishing the project.

MSN 8: Get 6 months for $9.95/month. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Aug 2003 16:11:07 -0700 From: Tech Support FaenWorks Subject: Re: danger for any MML member. Geoff should take actions Hey there All~~ In regards to the MSBlaster thing:: I know that I got the virus on the 11th of August on a computer not attached to this list... Just clarifying that bit to assure that I wasn't accidentally infecting all y'all Aside from that though, I've read the way that the MSBlaster works and it's alittle more hazardous than using email. It actually just attacks random ip addresses and ends up quickly infecting small LANs because of the fact that once any one of the group has it, it becomes very easy to select ips in the ssame LAN. moving on though, OTHER viruses do infact spread through email, but MSBlaster I don't think has anyproblems with this. (correct me if I'm wrong). and remember to NEVER open executables in emails. anyway, I figured Furthermore, Thibault~~ Regarding your fiancees computer, you may have fixed the problem, but then again, you may have just covered up the signs... the patch on microsoft.com only helps to innoculate your computer from the effects of MSBlast. ie, so it won't auto-shutdown. it may still exist and be infecting other computers. Check in your registry(start menu::Run:: regedit), search for msblast and something looking like autoupdate msblast... delete that thing. You might have already done this, but if you didn't it can still go haywire. I know the other computer that I was running had kept on running the virus without my knowledge infecting alot of people(presumably). I think it had tried something like 4 billion ips before my network admin had seen the increased activity and blocked my comp from the network. Luckily I fixed the problem as soon as I realized it. symantec has decent instructions for dealing with this problem and if you can you should try going to www.norton.com , they've got a link from the front page. Right then.. Well I got about 20 this morning so I recon that someone on the list might be infected if thib is getting mails too. I'm pretty sure the mails I've got this morning are of the W32.Sobig.F@mm variety. if you want to know more symantec has the low down: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sobig.f@mm.html So I don't think it is the blaster but something else. (btw, if you were running a decent firewall the blaster was harmless) More interestingly I seem to be getting bounced messages that I didn't send from addresses I don't know. It seems that some of the mail systems have got my address as the sender when it had nothing to do with me bar something somewhere attaching my address to it. As I would rather not have my address broadcast across the internet like that the sooner the virus is gone the better. If anyone else has noticed a similar phenomenon of bouced e-mail they didn't send I would like to know. Kenzerco releases say October. So two months late by the looks of it: http://www.kenzerco.com/releases.php?PHPSESSID=f0ac209b9aabe764414048add2c7d5a7 > I saw on the dragonsfoot.org forums that James had to step down because > "real life reared its ugly head" (quoted from David Kenzer). I would have thought that we would have heard from james if that was the case, don't you? Last he said to the list was that he had about 2,000,000 words to condence into about 250,000. So the puzzle is this, it's still due for release so who is working on it?
