He may be very powerful indeed, and most likely he is older than Terra who only achieved immortality during the elemental wars (whenever that was). Odins association with northmen is only restricted to his "Odin" identity. If we take James Mishler's Epic Timeline into consideration, he was the main patron of dragons back in the old days. He is also worshipped as the General(?) and Wotan on the Savage Coast. In IMC he is also worshipped by other cultures, including by the natives of the eastern Thanegioth Archipelago by other names... As for Nephele, I think she is an interesting character. We might not want to get too closely tied with Greek Myths, but she is mentioned to be a former lover of Ixion and the creator of the Centaur race. I see her as a cloud-colored Centaur. She should probably be the patron of all Tauric races on Mystara, such as Centaurs, Pegataurs, Bariaurs(if found), the Zebrataurs of Davania etc etc, although probably not minotaurs. She may even have a following among good aligned Manscorpions.... Just a thought.. Havard ______________________________________________________ Få den nye Yahoo! Ville did a write-up of the area around Dmitrov in his "Monolith Adventure" which can be found in the Vaults. Though he assumes a more frontier-like setting and a sparser settlement it is easily adaptable. Actually I just played the Adventure IMC and we had a lot of fun. It is a little known fact (at least here in the US)but when people think of martial arts they automatically associate it with China, Korea, and Japan and think of Kung-Fu, Taekwondo, and Karate respectively. In actuality, it was the Indians who had invented the first martial arts (in an indian province called Kerala, IIRC) which helped paved the way for their oriental cousins as indian monks started traveling eastward and modified shaolin monk practices (among other reasons). I know the map of the Known World is based on Earth as the continents were drifting apart. About how long ago was this? I would like to find some "maps" of Earth from about that time and was wondering if anyone here has seen some online. I know something like this was posted about two years ago. Thanks. Wrestling is a form of Martial Arts too. Some would say it is not as disciplined or spectacular, then they most likely never watched Karelin wrestle in the Barcelona Olympics. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Sep 2003 10:54:00 -0700 From: Daniel Gioffre Subject: Re: Where in the world is Mystara's "air" Immortal? A side note: A particularly important thing about Odin that I don't see too many people commenting on is the fact that he is worshipped in the Thyatain Hinterlands under the name of Viuden. For my own work I've assumed that his cult was brought to Brun by the earliest Thyatians and is still worshipped under that name. -Dan ===== "Feanor began to love the Silmarils with a greedy love, and grudged the sight of them to all save to his father and his seven sons; he seldom remembered now that the light within them was not his own." -J.R.R. AFAIK, the Greeks practiced three forms of unarmed combat as a sport: wrestling (with no punches allowed), boxe (with no grappling allowed) and pankration (with both punches and grappling). IMO, Odin's cult is much older than that: I think he has been the patron of the Antalians since their origin, and might have been a patron of the Skandaharians during the early Blackmoorian age.
