Only if you are dealing with a dragon PC I think. And even then it's not like there is a lot more power they can gain. This is assuming they have powers like an immortal of a particular rank but progress differently. Perhaps I should have said ANY dragon holding the position will have a similar power. I was suggesting the position grants power and is not the same as being immortal. In a sence the position could be immortal, but the holder of the position only gains immortal powers and benefits while the position is held. > Another option would be to simply make > the new dragon ruler into a fresh immortal, who can > advance similarly to other Immortals from that point > on. My issue with that is it really just makes dragons other immortals. Essentially the *way of ascention* is the equivilent to pursueing any of the other paths to immortallity. While it is nice to be consistant, it dosen't make the dragon rulers different like they used to be. additionally it means that there is no reason (other then ease of discovery and beliefs) to pursue the draconic path to immortallity as opossed to another path. > I think the Elemental Rulers should also be Immortal. > The elemental planes would be their Home Planes, > making them incredibly powerful. I liked that old rule. really tho elemental rulers could come about any number of ways. I don't know if ther has been any work done on structures of the elemental planes highrachy. but it would be interesting. > Elementals could achieve immortality outside of this > system (as could dragons), but they would be > considered renegades and possibly be hunted down. sounds a bit harsh to me. I like the idea that one would choose a path for it's benefits not be forced into it by race etc. each to their own.
