Her highness the majestic and mysterious princess of Morlay-Malinbois Diane de Moriamis, has invited you for a private dinner in her castle of Malinbois. She would also like to add that the brave baron of Morlay, her darling husband, will not be attending. Please be sure to bring along some samples of your wonderful concoctions, as her majesty always keeps up to date with the latest fashions in magic and style. Thank you. Mr Philippe Donarte, junior aculate from the Guild of Spokesmen Ross Gould wrote: A NIGHT IN THE BOUDOIR Good evening ladies. Let me introduce myself - I am Alymer, Master Alchemist, a member of the Corporation of Alchemists. I am glad that all present accepted my private invitation for this evening's little soiree. No doubt you are among the most powerful women in Glantri City. You deserve only the best. I have with me in this little trunk magical perfumes and cosmetics that will help you obtain more control over people. Trust me, I don't want to see these items in the hands of a common women, trollops or hedge wizards, so I offer my products only to those gathered here. Exclusivity and confidentiality will be strictly maintained; any orders will be kept private. I personally guarantee these products forsooth selling inferior goods is imprudent and knowing your reputations and magical powers ... dangerous. There are five types of perfumes that I am offering for the first time. In general, each comes in an unique one ounce elf-blown crystal bottle. The dosage is one dram, thus there are eight doses in every bottle. An application lasts 5-8 hours unless a Dispel Magic spell is cast. Each and every one costs 200 crowns. Naturally, all have an exquisite fragrance. Here try these samples: `Affinity' - has an alluring quality which will enhance your personal beauty. (Charisma will temporarily increase one point 75% chance or two points 25% chance.) `Entreaty'- has a bewitching fragrance which will refine your natural charms, and heighten your personal magnetism. (Charisma reaction adjustment bonus +3.) `Obsession' - will amplify your powers as you cast Charm Person spells, for any victim is rendered impotent by the scent. (Persons targeted suffer a penalty of -2 on their saving throws.) `Fidelity' - possesses a bright, clean scent which your intimate partners will find refreshing. (This increases the chances of a favor being granted by anyone you speak to by 25%. For example, you ask your warrior paramour to go to the old dragon's former lair to find a dagger. Most likely, he'd say, "I don't think I'll undertake this mission for you." But under 'Fidelity's' effects, he'd say, "Well okay, I'll go.") `Brute' - a masculine scent for the husband or lover in your life. When applied to a man's skin, his body's fat will look like muscles; he'll look like a hero. It is an illusion, but what a potent fantasy! (Men will appear to have a strength score of 18 and can intimidate as per the proficiency. Of course women can gain these benefits if they wish to use it on themselves. Those who have 18 or greater strength will gain no benefits.) I also have two kinds of lip cream. Both are applied like any other type of cosmetic. However, they have been magically altered to provide wonderful effects. Both are potent for only 3 kisses; i.e., there are three chances to "attack" before the potency wears out. (Victims save against potions.) The magical properties of the creams last no more than 12 hours in any case. `Passion' - has a luscious red color reminiscent of rubies. A kiss will rendered any male powerless against you. Like a Philter of Love, a man will become enamored for 12 hours, unless a Dispel Magic is cast upon him. Also any attempts at charming this individual are increased (the victim would make a saving throw at -4). One jar contains enough lip cream for 10 applications and costs a mere 300 crowns. `Enthrall' has an arresting red hue. A "successful" kiss will paralyze the victim for 5-8 turns. The victim can not move or speak, yet is able to see and hear as normal. This cream is a must for any femme fatale. One jar contains enough lip cream for 15 applications and costs only 250 crowns. Lastly, I have here a little something for which you'll have an infinite amount of uses for. `Alymer's Vanishing Cream' is an all purpose concoction. Not only will it soothe and cleanse your skin and act as a superior base, but it will hide any wart, mole, wrinkle, birthmark or facial hair! This unguent will also cover up acne, cold sores, fever blisters, swelling, and make bruises disappear. The effect lasts 9-12 hours. A four ounce jar costs only 120 crowns. Alymer aka Ross W Gould I hadn't touched any D&D stuff for years until recently. I enjoy reading this forum and recent almanac. Searching the archives, I noticed nothing about magical perfumes, so here's this post. There's more from Alymer if anyone is interested. ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.dnd.starflung.com/ To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? This is a wierd session. It seems one PC turns evil, but attempts to justify his actions. I told him that a Linarii monk once said: "If you justify madness, then madness will become the justification". The other PCs, never considered knocking on any door to find refuge. When they were locked outside the inn, they couldn't figure out what to do. So, I had an NPC knock on the door, and have the inn keeper gingerly usher everyone in. I'm not sure how to handle the now Evil PC that things he is not evil. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Fight Club and Ancient Caves (Part I) ------------------------------------- Through more adventures under Baron Vorloi's guesthouse, the party comes across a fight club in another cellar, with participants including "Tornescu brothers", peasants, and some of the city guards and a pit descending 100 downwards. The party descends down the pit and explores that area where they discover ancient hieroglyphs and paintings of spell casters, demons, jacka-headed men, beastmen, and a beholder. The party has several close encounters with traps. At least four members came very close to death. The party made their way back to the Inn, where they discovered a celebration by the other adventuring party. They made good on their adventures and show the party a prized magical elven sword and a magical ring they was taken from the goblin chieftan's horde. Oration of Chaos (Part II) -------------------------- The party marches off to the house of Zweiss Radu and investigate his cellars, as this is one of the marked places on the Veiled Society map. Along the way they come across gathering, and investigate. An orator is inciting the crowd about how nobility and the Tornescu clan are the cause of their problems. The crowd quickly turns into pandemonium as one lobs a stone at a horseman. The horsemen move in to attack the crowd, and the crowd in turn responds. Vilk attempts to calm the crowd by telling them to be calm and "lay down". The crowd unconvinced as the horsemen are attacking them, continue to pull the horsemen off their mounts. A woman throws a stone, and Vilk lays into the peasants by bashing down the helpless woman in front of her child. The crowd responds angrily and surrounds Vilk. The rest of the party (Mitai, Simion, and Mihai) breaks into a home, causing its residents to flee in a panic. Alphy escapes the area and explores for escape routes, but discovers marching phalanxes that block off the streets. Around the same time, Vilk starts slashing gaping wounds into the peasants, and later beheads several peasants in one mighty cleave. After a minor confrontation with Vilk, Moric attempts to stabilize some dying peasants and some wounded horsemen. The crowd eventually overcomes the horsemen and then run off in different directions. Crowd Control (Part III) ------------------------ Moments later the crowd comes pouring into plaza. Alphy returns and informs the burglers (Mitai, Mihai, and Simion) of the oncoming phalanxes. Mitai comes up with an ingenious plan to disguise themselves as guardsmen, and slip off in the chaos. Vilk, standing on the dias with his greatsword dripping of blood of slayed peasants, attempts to convince the crowd to be calm and "lay down". With the child yelling, "That bad man hurt my mommy!", the crowd remains in suspense. One peasant tries to command the crowd and tells them to barricade the plaza. Moric shoots off an arrow at the peasant leader, and in turn the crowd responds to the new threat by surrounding Moric. Vilk takes a horse, and trots down the street to unsuccessfully negotiate with the marching phalanx. Moric tumbles out of the way and finds refuge from Dmitros, a peasant who hit hard times due to Thyatians confiscating their homesteads during the initial occupation. The phanlanxes came up to the street, and slaughtered most of the crowd and houled others to prisons to await thier executions. * Accomplishments o Missed appointment with Theosius for the delivery of package. * Notable Events o Explored Parts of Ancient Tunnels o Discovered Secret Fightclub o Survived Riot and Town Militia * Encounters o Peasant Rioters (160) - admist the confusion and utter pandemonium, one party member attempted to stabilize the wounds of felled peasants, while another murders them. o Town Militia (84) - One member tries to stabilize wounds of fallen horsemen, another tries to negoiate with marching phalanxes, and other party members disguise themselves as guards, and bluff their way out of the situation. o Pit Trap - Moric, the elven archer-wizard, discovers a pit trap by falling into it. o Electric Trap - Alphy cannot resist his urge to open a false door, which springs a lightning bolt that nearly toasts the party. o Statue of Archer - Party figures out how to bypass the statue, but in the end Vilk marches by confidently and is almost annihilated. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
