We wish to learn them well enough so that thumbing through rulebooks will not disturb the great Darokinian coalition - Sind Nomads showdown. (If we ever get a chance to play it through. A large BS game including a lot of PC action takes 10-18 hours, so we need two days. At this age it is a bit hard to find the time.) I wanted to ask you about the rules on skirmishers. Skirmiskers are pretty unorganised units, comprised of small action groups. They can be used as spies, recon units etc. Also skirmishers with missile weapons and/or spell abilities are a common form of "mobile artillery". The rule with skirmishers is that they CAN't engage a reagular unit in combat. Meaning that a skirmisher unit isn't able to charge a tight troop formation, since they lack the cohesion to punch through. All in all, a pretty viable rule. But what about skirmishers comprised of trolls, giants and such? I think that they should be allowed to attack regular units. What do you think? At least I'm going to experiment with this the next weekend. But intuitively it seems right that say 80 Trolls can muster up the courage to rush headlong into a unit of say 300 swordsmen. Of course the regular unit that is defending gets some good modifiers. (We have played through 2 very large battles a couple of years ago, but then we didn't have magic-using troops or skirmisher monsters. So we have a couple of things to learn.) Naturally on the list, we should have conversations that remain on topic. But if someone wants to put something in their .sig (which applies to all one's emails), then go ahead. Forgive me, but I think it's distasteful when others try to shut others up, either because of a little .sig or because of disagreement in something like for example dark-elves in Mystara. - Joaquin __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Unfortunately, the way things are in the world right now, with high tensions between the US and much of western Europe, it's all too easy to misinterpret something as being a slight against one's nation. To forestall a potentially nasty flame war, which could result in many good people leaving our community, I nipped that topic in the bud, and asked people to think carefully about any messages they might inadvertently be sending to others (i.e., in .sig files). A little too restrictive? Yes, I think so, but I really don't want to take the risk.
