I am currently writing a campaign setting for Mystara, set in the Post-WotI Mystaran Known World. I am writing in Italian, and I hope to make my files available when I'm done with the basics. It takes a lot of infos from Canon and from the Almanac (and from Gander & Theisen, and from Shawn's Vaults...), but I will mention this in the credits and I'll remove everything the authors decide is unavailable to my project. Obviously, I plan to use Thibault's maps 8-). In regard to this, I have done a slight modification (using simply Windows Paint, don't blame me for this, please) to a Known World map, but for reasons too long to discuss I need to put them on a non-Geocities site. Anyone would do this favour to me? I ask primarly Thibault, because he has such a wonderful cartography site (and I'm not joking or trying to impress him), and moreover it was he that wrote it in the first place... The link to the map, for all to see, is this: http://www.geocities.com/iuliusscaevola/mappe/mondonoto1016.JPG Thanks in advance! Looking, it seems the only things of mine that aren't already archived elsewhere are a Mystaran version of "American Pie" and some really old writeups of the first adventure of my old Mystara campaign. If anyone's interested in "preserving" these not-particularly-good creative endeavours, I'll be happy to send them to him or to the list. -- Aaron Nowack "Never let reality get in the way of a good hypothesis." http://www.mimiru.net/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 May 2004 02:47:41 +0200 From: Thibault Sarlat Subject: thib in mapping mode i'll be willing to make the thunder rift map. It is funny how Mystaran minds work. I just took out all my Thunder Rift stuff not two days ago because I was hoping to do something to make it more "officially" Mystaran. I was also thinking of making a map of it to go along with things. I've got a (very) rough history based on the TR items I have (missing Dragon's Den, Haunted Tower, Goblin's Lair, Rage of the Rakasta, and that DM's screen). It's kind of tough- they're very sketchy. The TR campaign product itself is actually pretty good (despite the fact that the author seemingly wrote it for an AD&D line), and the modules range from good to "why'd they let this out?" ("In the Phantom's Wake" being a particularly bad one; the funny part is, the blurb they had advertising the module in the TR campaign setting book is *nothing* like the module that eventually came out. Heh.) I can release what I've come up with, Havard, but I don't know that it will help- I was structuring the information to fit into the Known World (probably one of the valleys between Alfheim and Rockhome). Not entirely sure, though- which is one of the reasons I was going to try and map it at 8 mi and 1 mi increments- to see where it might fit. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 May 2004 23:28:32 -0400 From: Christopher M Cherrington Subject: Re: thib in mapping mode The Dragon's Den does not fit Thunder Rift, and there is one module in that series that explains slaying the dragon can earn a banquet with the Duke, and right underneath it, renown throughout Karameikos. -----Original Message----- From: Mystara RPG Discussion [mailto:MYSTARA-L@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM]On Behalf Of Andrew Theisen Sent: Thursday, May 20, 2004 9:35 PM To: MYSTARA-L@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM Subject: Re: [MYSTARA] thib in mapping mode Thibault Sarlat wrote: i'll be willing to make the thunder rift map. I wanted to include some Mystran version of the RW Cossacks for the Zuyevan Empire (based on the RW Russian Empire). As a result, I had a migration of Ethengar horsemen (which I called the Talmavs) as a result of the great humanoid invasion led by (I can't remember his name now). Anyway, the Ethengar tribes split - with some settling in modern day Ethengar and the rest travelling west through the Wildlands and Borea to eventually settle on the east of the Endworld Chain, west of the Yalu river and southeast of the Sylvan Realm (and Klagorst etc). The maps of the region (expertly done by Christian Constantin) should be available as well which will show you the general area I had them settle in (and later were incorporated by the growing Zuyevan Empire). This could fit in well with what you are suggesting and would provide a valid history of how the Khanite warriors got to the western side of Brun.
