At that time, Canolbarth's "construction" is nearing completion (Mealiden will become King one century later, and the elves arrived just in 800 BC). Also, the Nithian corruption is underway, and Antalians are moving down from Norwold to Heldann and Northern Reaches. Due to the Gnoll invasion, most of the original popoulation of Darokin (Taymoran, Doulakki and Traldar) has been destroyed, or moved towards the Orclands. > Their names dont really indicate much of a > culture. We have major Valum, the legendary Jameson, > Karyn the thief, Raven the Master Thief, Enora the > Cleric etc etc... A search with Google can help: Enora is a breton name (but built on a latin root), Valum appears to be a norwegian surname. Karyn could be scandinavian as well. The rest are obvious -- "Raven" can be seen as a translated nickname, and Jameson is plain english. So we have an "Antalian" base, and some variants which may mirror more recent developments or interaction with modern Darokin people. We may assume that the original human population of the valley was composed by early Darokinian people (mix of Taymoran, Traldar and Doulakki speaking some variant of Trantalian language), who were being wiped off the Orclands. They were probably enslaved by a large raiding band of Antalians, and settled in the sheltered valley when the Antalians found themself cut off from their northern homeland by goblinoids recovering control on their lands after the defeat at Rockhome. > Dwarves: > > Actually, that fits even better :) > Where can I read more about Jhyrrad? It's for my new campaign and it has qualities of both D20 and Classic DnD. If you have M$ Office 97 or Open Office v1.1.x. you should be able to edit them to your needs. Here's your link. http://home.psknet.com/allenr/dnd/Ursia_CS.zip You could probably find other sheets on the Vauts too. --Ray. --- hammer_of_ulric wrote: > Does anyone know of a good character sheet I can > download, to suit either > the boxed D&D rules, or the Cyclopedia? > > Ta > > Hammer of Ulric > > ******************************************************************** > The Other Worlds Homepage: > http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp > The Mystara Homepage: http://www.dnd.starflung.com/ > To unsubscribe, send email to > LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM > with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. > ===== If you have to choose between books and computers, there's no doubt which you should choose. OK, here's the info. The doors to the inner stronghold did indeed pre-date the dwarves' construction of Hearth-Home. Part of the reason for Hearth-Home being built was to protect Th-Rift from whatever might come thru the portal. Farolas entered the inner stronghold and returned, badly injured, ordering the doors sealed. The dwarves were told that "the greatest danger lay within" and the doors have been under guard, permitting none to enter, since that day, save one. Farolas himself again passed thru the doors, never to return. The dungeon beyond the gates was a stronghold built by the wizard Asticles. Farolas entered the place to confront the mage, and slew him in an epic battle. The Dimensional Pool lies within the stronghold, but it is unclear whether it was made by Asticles or not. My impression is that the wizard discovered the Pool linking to Traladara, and built the stronghold around it. The dwarves in turn, built Hearth-Home to prevent the Pool's use. The Pool's current destination is a wooded glade ~20 miles SW of Bywater, < 10 miles from the Castellan River. Since Farolas never came back out, and his remains are not in the ruins, he must went thru the Pool to Traladara or some other location. ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 25 May 2004 to 26 May 2004 (#2004-116) ****************************************************************
