I'll take a closer look at what you did and maybe we could try to put down something together...this is my intent, at least. I would like to write something that is most possibly comprehensive of canon and fan material...so I'll definitely have to use your work, if you get my point...8-) I have currently written 28 word pages of a Mystaran Dwarves Handbook, all in Italian. I hope to translate it one day or another... Giulio ______________________________________________________________________ Yahoo! I would like to write something that is most possibly comprehensive of canon and fan material...so I'll definitely have to use your work, if you get my point...8-) This might work a bit better for you than Kagyar taking an active hand himself- It seems to me that my original thinking was more along the lines of the original Keeper of the Forge having come across to the Isle of Dawn with the Konwarf (which is how they were originally thought of- "People of the Dawn"- a bright hope of the new dwarvish settlement- the original Keeper tried his hardest (along with a clanmaster, etc) to establish an actual dwarven colony/clan, but continually met with failure, due to the majority of the dwarvish settlers being more interested in their own selfish gain, rather than family (most of these "colonizers" were simply entrepreneurs, rather than the traditional family oriented dwarves). Finally, due to long failures (and possibly other tragic events?) the Keeper gave up, and decided to return home (or maybe the failed colony was recalled). Rather than see the Forge fall into the hands of either avaricious dwarves or, worse, some of the other races o n the Isle of Dawn, the Keeper called upon Kagyar to lay a curse upon it, so that it could never again be used without ill effect to the user. Then those dwarves that remained faithful and loyal to Kagyar left the Isle of Dawn and returned home. From that point, the Konwarf became known as the Filwarf ("People of the Dusk") a reference to their declining decadence. I seem to recall that that was actually my original intent, that it was- as you noted, more of an event precipitated by the dwarves themselves rather than Kagyar (though his attention was certainly on the events, and his dissatisfaction was brought to bear through the Keeper). As to the possible other Forge that was brought/made on the Isle of Dawn... it is a mystery still. I haven't decided if there even was such a thing, but if so, I imagine there might be a "traditional" clan still hiding out somewhere on the IoD, perhaps forgotten (or even long dead for some reason or other). Let me know what you think of this idea. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Jan 2004 20:17:53 -0800 From: John Calvin Subject: Re: Small update to my Taymoran project >> The Necromancer King of Tzur, on the other hand, devoted much effort to the creation of Wererats, which he employed for warfare in the swamps in order to wrestle control of the river trade from his rivals, the Kings of Amarshish and Darqis. << I wonder if wererat "commandos" could have been used to spread disease among the Taymoran Kings enemies. Not just Lycanthropy, but other more mundane diseases that could plague (and run rampant) among the general populace. Wererats like this might be linked to Necromancer Kings who employed large numbers of undead. Send the rats in, cause a plague, and raise up an army from within the city of your enemy. Just a random thought. >> A number of the most resilient individuals had been able to survive longer than the few months most would live as beast-men. These Lycanthropes started resenting their vampiric masters, and formed a secret society devoted to overthrowing them. A previously unknown Immortal manifested to them, calling himself Lykaion2, and offered them help against their masters for their worship. << :) So who is this unknown immortal? Inquiring minds want to know. Someone new or just a new face on someone old? Anyway, Taymora is one of my favorite subjects. Keep the ideas flowing. -John ===== Rule #85.
