IMC, I prefer to keep most races settled along their migratory routes, so, while Humans and Rakasta can be found everywhere, Lupins are common only in Brun; Gnomes are found in Davania and south-eastern Brun; Elves are common in Brun, but uncommon in Davania and rare in Skothar; Halflings are found in small numbers in north-western Davania, the Savage Coast, southern Hule, southern Known World, and the coast of Norwold (plus Alphatia); and Dwarves are common in the Known World and Norwold, and uncommon in the neighbouring regions (Savage Coast, Northern Davania, Isle of Dawn and Alphatia). In addition to these races, Goblinoids and Lizard-kin are also quite common. -- Giampaolo Agosta http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2004 08:43:23 -0800 From: John Calvin Subject: Re: Mystaran feeling electronic wargame >> Thanks for the link. This looks really interesting. >> I also like that it works with the Mac OS X. :-) No prob Joaquin. Be careful though. I haven't been this addicted to a game since NWN first came out. Haven't seen much of my wife for over a week now (don't know if I still have a wife really ;) ) , and I've only ben playing C'tis desert tombs theme. There are still 16 other nations to check out! I love Ctis (think carnifex). Been bringing dead priest kings back to unlife and building up vast undead armies. Man that is fun. :D ===== Rule #85. I will not use any plan in which the final step is horribly complicated, e.g. "Align the 12 Stones of Power on the sacred altar then activate the medallion at the moment of total eclipse." Instead it will be more along the lines of "Push the button." from "A Guide to Becoming an Evil Overlord" by Peter Anspach __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! What about Teenage Ninja Mutant Tortles?!? :-) The Isle of Dread (module X1) includes a lot of Savage Coast species as intelligent monsters and at least one from the PC supplement that dealt with skygnomes and the kopru from underwater kingdoms. Many of these might exist in the Davania. I also thought of doing a wierd jungle campaign with jungle races, like lizardmen. There was one great series in RPGA that was promising, until that and other material disappeared after D&D3e came about. Also, one can do variant jungle elves and jungle dwarves. Maybe borrow some wierdness from other campaigns (FR and DarkSun). The Aye'Taar sound just plan wierd. And I likes it a lot. :-) Maybe these elves can have inherited powers similar to the Birthright campaign. There's some good material for this sort of thing in Unearthed Arcana (D&D3e) that would work perfectly for this. Who are these Divergans? Anymore on the Pegdhart gnomes? - Joaquin __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I'll leave this one for Alex to answer - he being, of course, the creator of the "furry-tailed devils", and the "P-gnomes". :-) Geoff -- Geoff Gander, BA 97, MPA 02 Carnifex Loremaster/Mad Roleplayer Master of the Elemental Plane of Bureaucracy au998@freenet.carleton.ca : www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Realm/2091 ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2004 16:27:08 -0500 From: Geoff Gander Subject: Re: Help needed Hi Joao, Without repeating too much of what others have already said, the City-States region would most likely have dwarven colonies around Kastelios (being a port city), the Thyatian Hinterlands (dwarves from Thyatis would probably be running many of the mines there, and a few clan heads have probably also applied for, and received, land grants), and possibly Ilioloosti (being a city-state that is more open to the outside world). That said, isolated dwarven colonies could be found in the Adakkian Mounts (plenty of danger there, too), and possibly around Hrissopoli and Cyclonia, but these would probably be quite small, and fiercely independent. As far as elves go, I think several clans could easily fit into the jungles north of the Meghala Kimata Plains - most likely offshoots of Ilsundal's or Mealiden's migration that decided not to cross the sea. There could also definitely be an elvish community or two in the Hinterlands, as well as Kastelios and/or Ilioloosti (again, because they are more open to outside influences). As for the rest of the region, I see the populace as being mainly human, with rakasta, the occasional gnomish or hin clan (from further south), and lizard-kin (sis'thik, lizard men and troglodytes in the Amalur Lowlands, possibly more lizard men in the jungles to the north) thrown in for good measure. Of course, there's obviously nothing stopping you, or anyone, from dropping in an extra dwarven clan or two, but my thoughts were that, historically, the dwarves didn't have as much of a presence in northern Davania as they did in other regions. I would certainly be interested in hearing about your campaign, though!
