Well, read about it below. ******************************************** From stormshock.com/rpg/onlinegaming/statement.php German Metal Band Sings About Dragonlance's Raistlin Majere Posted by metal on Wednesday, September 24 @ 23:49:03 PDT (9 reads) The German metal band Blind Guardian, known for songs based on Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, has a song titled "The Soulforged" on their latest album "A Night at the Opera". It tells the tale of Dragonlance's best-known wizard Raistlin Majere. The decision to write a song based on this character was a result of a user poll on the band's website. ******************************************** Details about the voting: http://www.blind-guardian.com/center.php3?page=lyrics/themes.php3 We have beaten R.A. Salvatore. Mwahahahaha! And Cthulu! ;-) ******************************************** Well, I'm trying to convince an important brazilian Metal composer and singer to get into gaming, into Mystara. He is leader and founder of a band called "Shaman" and is he is a good friend of all those "Melodic Metal" bands in Europe - which are exactly the bands that play what I call "RPG Metal": Blind Guardian, Rhapsody etc. They all trade members, compose and play together etc. That genre of music has most of its fans in Europe, Japan and South America. I think the only such band in USA is Manowar. The name of his band alone, Shaman, says a lot. He has been calling its genre "Mystic Metal" and even plays pan flute etc. I reckon he would very glad to get a Atruaghin shaman to start with. WHAT ELSE do you guys think? Rhapsody's leader, guitarrist, spokesman, do-everything Luca Turilli has crated his own world, and the stories he tells all use his world as "campaign setting". Well, a few msgs to his very busy site might give him new ideas... If we manage to convince some people to write songs abuot Mystara, that would be an efficient way to make it more known throughout the world. At this point it's no secret to anyone that this is my goal as a priest of Mystara (be its reign ong and fair!). Humble cheers from the low-level priest vini ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Mar 2004 10:37:17 -0300 From: "Vinicius R. de Moraes" Subject: Questions on Dragonlance About Dragonlance: - Is http://www.dragonlance.com cannon, "THE" Official site? - Why are Mystara, Planescape and DarkSun shown in the "Other Worlds" section but Dragonlance is not? Are there many different status (I thought it was only "active" or "innactive worlds")? Dragonlance is a very fine world. I would rate it "0.7 Mystara". :-D TIA, vini ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Mar 2004 15:07:32 +0100 From: Giampaolo Agosta Subject: Re: Questions on Dragonlance Vinicius R. de Moraes wrote: > About Dragonlance: > - Is http://www.dragonlance.com cannon, "THE" Official site? > - Why are Mystara, Planescape and DarkSun shown in the "Other > Worlds" > section but Dragonlance is not? Are there many different status (I thought > it was only "active" or "innactive worlds")? Probably because Dragonlance, like Ravenloft, is an active world, though through a third party support. -- Giampaolo Agosta http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Mar 2004 15:06:27 +0100 From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Havard=20Faanes?= Subject: Re: Questions on Dragonlance Dragonlance is being published by Wizards and has at least two D20 Hardcover Sourcebooks available. dragonlance.com is the official site for it as you say. I enjoyed reading the Hickman/Weiss DL novels, but as an RPG setting I findt DL harder to handle, and it offers less adventure potential than Mystara. IMO. It is recommended in th DMG that the requirements to most PrCs should be so high that they can be gained at around 6th level. However, if the PrC is weaker than the general PrC, the requirements can be lower. Id suggest having mainly skill requirements for the PrC in addition to being a member of the guild or Major House. Who can get the class in OD&D? > In OD&D anyone can be in the Merchant Class, they earned experience from net profit 1gp=1xp. The requirements for being a Merchant meant learning from the Merchant’s Guild, which also meant you abided by all the laws governing the guild. Any broken laws meant broken bones or death (no wonder crime is so low in Darokin). For a Prestige Class Merchant, I would say that you need extra ranks in Diplomacy, Craft (the trade(s) you are in), Appraisal, and Knowledge (Markets, not market value, that is covered in Appraisal; this knowledge is knowing where, who, what, and why of the trade). Once you Prestige, one of the abilities earned will be the Broker Points. I still think the DM should keep a very close record of your transactions and with whom, as abusing Broker Points can create enemies really fast. Some very lucky (and for the NPC, unlucky) die rolls can do just the same. Imagine rolling very well to sell that 20gp worth of carpets to the unlucky merchant that appraised them for 200gp, and you happen to bargain an extra 30% markup from his appraisal. When he then goes to sell the rugs to someone else, he might just notice something he missed the first time around and realize the real value of 20gp and believe he was swindled (he gets to roll again with his new transaction!). In my campaigns, I tracked the sale of items from beginning to end, as sometimes very influential people want to know who first marked that cheap import rug first to go after. “Why Baron Ludwig , that is not an original Makastani rug, that looks more like the traditional Nikastani rug, made with courser camel hair and not fine horse hair.” ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Mar 2004 17:11:07 +0100 From: Giampaolo Agosta Subject: Re: Copyright, License Question Keene Hammond wrote: > > If I use the Open Game License > and the GPL > can I create a program such as > pcgen that uses instead the 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons?
