Slagovich sounds strangely Slavic-ish. Thyatian is Greek/Roman. Perhaps, Slagovich could have been an older Traladaran settlement and speak an ealier version of Traladaran. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Finance Tax Center - File online. Both of you are right, indeed, but their native language is called Slagich (IIRC), not Slag. Slag is just the name given to the Thyatian dialect spoken by merchants in Slagovich. Mostly, is a name used in the Savage Coast. That is the reason why Slag is an M-(neo)latin tongue, while Slagic is an M-slavic one -- most likely something modeled on southern slavic tongues (from former Yugoslavia, mostly). Slag I would think as a trade tongue for use on the Savage Coast would have commonality to the Slagich, with some Espa (to give commonality to Thyatian) and a little Ylari. The Darokin language would be a good part Thyatian with little parts of Traladaran and Ylari, giving Slag another boost as a trade tongue. I would say Slag is a proto-Moldavian tongue, the only Romance/Slavic tongue in Europe. (I am going on old history lessons here, so please correct me if I am wrong). ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 29 Mar 2004 to 31 Mar 2004 (#2004-76) ***************************************************************
