I am also a big fan of the Amber series so Id like to hear more about this part. I havent gotten around to readin C.A. Smith's short stories yet, but now I think I will. Since noticing the reference to Smith in the Glantri gaz, I have always been interested in incorporating more of his stuff into Mystara. Actually, that gave me an idea. What if Etienne's spell allowing the Amber Family to escape to Mystara also brought with it other things... Including the dark god Tsathoggua, who is now sleeping below Nouvelle Averoigne? This theory could also allow us to bring in further elements from the CAS stories if appropriate, but I'll have to read them before I can come up with any more specific ideas on that... Thanks for the feedback on the Race issue. I think I will go with the following races: Human (standard) Dwarf, Rockborn (ie standard) Dwarf, Moulder Elf (standard) Elf, Shadowelf Elf, Water Gnome (standard) Half-elf (See below) Halfling (standard) Half-Orc (standard) Lupin Rakasta This means that the Mystara specific races will be Moulder Dwarf, Shadowelf, Water-elf, Lupin and Rakasta. I didnt bother with sub races for Gnomes. I let them use the standard rules and make the gnomes of serraine simply another culture rather than a subrace. I thought about adding other races aswell, but for a campaign spanning the entire Known World, this would just mean too many options, which could easily get overwhelming. For the Half-elf issue I have my own interpretation. The Half-elves descrived in the Core book, are not the same as the True Half-elves described in Gaz 5. In fact, true half-elves also exist, although they are extremely rare. True Half-elves gain all the benefits of both elves and humans and have a LA of at least +1 or +2. However, there is one shortcoming that does affect Mystara. D&D3e, as it is written fails to recognize cultural attributes. They bundle both cultural and racial traits to oversimplify things. For Mystara, a world with many diverse cultures, and many traits, languages, etc. this doesn't work well. So, IMC, I have a new mechanism called a "cultural adjustment" rather than a purely "racial adjustment". Thus I could have one racial write up, and then cultural writeups. -- Joaquin > Havard Faanes wrote: > > > Which races should be included?
