That's strange! Night Howlers includes (and you can see it on any Item description on TSR and Vendor catalogues) a complete description of the Valley of Wolves, a short Gaz of this place and its peculiar citizens, starting from Malachie Altair IV - the Darkstar ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Jun 2005 16:29:13 +0200 From: Havard Faanes Subject: Vedr. Thanks Dustin! I am definately using the current ZGG Blackmoor material. It is interesting that none of the ZGG stuff AFAIK contradict my theory. The idea of using Hadeen is perfect! Did you have that in mind yourself when you wrote his entry? That this Peshwa god is responsible for the formation of the Valley which split the plains of Hak (and its inhabitants) in two works very well. > I think it works well and if it fits the needs of > your players, rock on! Yeah! My players is one of the main motivations for this change. Another is that I like making small modifications to the settings I use, simply to make them more "my own". I find that this makes it easier for me to improvise and not get too fixed on the written text which sometimes gets in the way of my storytelling. The trick then is to tie everything together, both the official material and my own stuff including both tweaks and completely new ideas. I am preparing for a new Blackmoor campaign now, though the preparations are still at a very early stage, but this theory has solved alot of my problems and even given me new ideas. Expect to hear more later! :) HÃ¥vard > > Dustin > > -----Original Message----- > From: Mystara RPG Discussion > [mailto:MYSTARA-L@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM] On Behalf > Of Havard Faanes > Sent: Monday, May 30, 2005 10:26 AM > To: MYSTARA-L@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM > Subject: [MYSTARA] Radience/Blackmoor alternative > theory > > I posted this on the ZGG forums, but since many of > you > probably aren't there, I thought Id post it here > aswell... > > Although I have from time to time been fascinated by > the sci fi elements of the City of the Gods, the > Federation, and the Beagle, it has always been clear > that my players would not respond favorably if I > ever > introduced such things in my campaigns. Being Glantri, I would have thought that either G: KoM or the gaz would have somethign on it. Then, natural progression for me have been Castle Amber and Mark of Amber. The truth be told I had forgotten all about the notation in Night Howlers. I had even planned on using that resource to flesh out a few lycanthrope NPCs for this project. However, that extent of detail wasn't needed and I settled on more generic werewolf stats. The Canine ties is more for background storyline than actual use. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Jun 2005 17:21:30 +0200 From: Altair IV Subject: Re: Glantri Question But you're right, Alex! You say "Werewolves in Glantri" and, as almost everybody else, you put your mind on "Glantri" first, and then frantically looked for something about licantropy. The problem is, to me "Glantri" is always in mind, so I put my mind on "Werewolves" first, and PC4 for was my main choice. It is the same as if I have to find something, let's say, on Geology schools in USA... I'm Italian, so maybe I start looking for everything I can find about USA, and than search for Schools, and down to the specific branch... If you are American, though, you probably put all your attention on Geology Schools, and start your search from this topic. The idea of using Hadeen is perfect! Did you have that in mind yourself when you wrote his entry? " DC: Hadeen's fall has been shown in several incarnations in Dave Arneson's Blackmoor. There are a group of monks who witnessed the event and have changed their philosophy. There is some overlap in the events, but it wasn't the raw intent to identify Hadeen as the crash of the Beagle, just a strange coincidence. :) "I am preparing for a new Blackmoor campaign now, though the preparations are still at a very early stage, but this theory has solved alot of my problems and even given me new ideas." DC: Sounds great! Keep those dice rolling!
