I guess the area around Fort Doom makes for the best mini-England in that case ;-) Jon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Jul 2005 08:55:10 +0200 From: Altair IV Subject: Re: Equivalents to Mystaran nations (Jon) I'm not English, but I'm proud to say I know that period in brithish history quite well, and I do agree with Jon that it has not so many contact points with Karameikos. You cannot say they're similar just because of the "conquest", or just because it is called a Duky. Traladarian as Saxons and Thyatian as Norman seem to me a bad comparison. So I did prefer to establish a corrispondence based on cultural patterns, and not on historical events, and Karameikos looks definitely as a tipical feudal society, barely centre-controlled, as it was the HRI in the later period (XI/XII century). Following this basic idea, you may consider Traladarian as the old Germanic, non-Christian tribes, and Thyatians as the new, French and Christian "invaders".
