Thanks for the quick reply, Giampaolo. Taymora sounds like a likable solution. This would stretch the history of Kron to a distant past, making their small civilization a remarkable achievement. On the other hand this might be a bitt implausible. Having Kron survive over 3000 years on such a basis is a big assumption. What if they were remnants of some later migration, like the "Thyatian" tribes? Another question: Have we/you ever discussed the ancient Easter Islandesque race in X8 module? What about their origins? Ville ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jul 2005 12:12:11 +0200 From: Giampaolo Agosta Subject: Re: History of Kron? The assumption was that Kron could be just a splinter of a much larger floating civilization that moved in the Sea of Thanegioth. > What if they were remnants of some later migration, like the "Thyatian" > tribes? That's also possible, and more likely than the Taymoran idea. > Another question: Have we/you ever discussed the ancient Easter Islandesque > race in X8 module? What about their origins? Uhm, don't know... Well, I'm off for holidays now, I'll get back into the topic when I come back :) Bye, GP ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jul 2005 05:49:54 -0700 From: Geoff Gander Subject: Re: RW Equivalents to Mystaran nations (was: point me to a site?) Good to hear from you again, too. :-) I might repost an updated version later this week, time permitting. Or someone else could do it. One thing I was considering adding to the list are other fan-created nations (Zuyevo et al. are already there, so the others should be present as well): Kaarjala Finland (the nomadic Vaarana would be Saami, aka Laplanders) Littonia Baltic states (Litoniesu are Latvians, Lietuvans are Lithuanians) Taymora ?????? Klagorst ?????? Any others?? ...and then of course there are the HW cultures, but those are listed in official sources. Nevertheless, they should probably be included. A few years ago I did some work on them when I described the Isles of Steam (located in the Vaults). I had the strange race (which I called the M'kar) originate in another dimension, migrating to Brun around 2400 BC (for reasons largely unknown). They were highly xenophobic, and had little to do with the Taymorans, who eventually forced them to retreat to a handful of offshore colonies by 2200 BC, of which the island in X8 is one. Thereafter they entered into a period of decline, and by 1300 BC had been wiped out. I would leave it up to DMs to determine whether Taymor's ascension might have been helped by the discovery of interesting M'kar technology or magical artefacts among the abandoned or conquered mainland settlements. Anyhow, that's just a brief summary - the article has a bit more info that might be of interest to you. Hope this helps, Geoff ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 26 Jul 2005 to 27 Jul 2005 (#2005-146) ****************************************************************
