Nice work, only one point to raise: why do the SE find it so difficult to infiltrate Umbarth House? Ok, there are forest elves there, but the SE regularly plant spies in Alfheim itself (especially in modern times, back in Celedryl's time it could be different). -- Giampaolo Agosta http://digilander.iol.it/agathokles ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2005 17:37:38 -0800 From: Andrew Theisen Subject: Dwarves of Buhrohur? Okay, maybe you guys can help me. In the Buhrohur entry in the Dawn of the Emperors DMs book, it mentions that Baroness Gilla Blyskarats is of the clan Farkres, ruling clan of Buhrohur. I don't think I know what to make of that. Her last name is Blyskarats, which sounds like a clan name itself, but I'll just assume its a family name, and the Blyskarats family is a part of the clan of Farkres. Now how can she rule the clan of Buhrohur if she's a a member of the clan of Farkres? She's unmarried, and inherited the title of Baroness from her father, the previous baron (making him a Farkres as well). So I'm confused. Maybe I'm not reading the entry right? All it says is this: (Clan Farkres, ruling clan of Buhrohur). The only thing I can think of is maybe the entry is supposed to mean that the clan of Buhrohur is the ruling clan of the dwarves of Buhrohur, but that the current Baroness is from the clan of Farkres- in other words, to Thyatians, the Farkres woman is in charge of the barony, but to the dwarves, the Buhrohur clan is actually in charge? I don't know. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2005 20:15:10 -0600 From: Aaron Nowack Subject: Re: Dwarves of Buhrohur? Andrew Theisen wrote: > Maybe I'm not reading the entry right? I don't know. Don't have the book on me to sanity check this, but I think it means exactly what it says - Clan Farkres is the ruling clan of the (Barony of, I presume) Buhrohur. In other words, Buhrohur is a place, not a clan. At least, that's what I'd presume from the quote you gave. -- Aaron Nowack "Never let reality get in the way of a good hypothesis." http://www.mimiru.net/ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2005 18:42:06 -0800 From: Andrew Theisen Subject: Re: Dwarves of Buhrohur? --- Aaron Nowack wrote: > Don't have the book on me to sanity check this, but > I think it means exactly what it says - Clan Farkres > is the ruling clan of the (Barony of, I presume) > Buhrohur. > > In other words, Buhrohur is a place, not a clan. Thanks for the help! No more dumb questions from me for a week or so, I promise. :) ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 16 Jan 2005 to 17 Jan 2005 (#2005-16) ***************************************************************
