Sorry I read your mail a little late but found it very interesting because we haven't many campaign based on Skothar. Please continue the story. In my campaign Skothar was freed from Alphatian rule during the Wrath of the Immortals by one of the PCs, a bugbear paladin of Tarastia :-) bye Francesco ___________________________________ Yahoo! Hi, I still haven't given up on using material from the Mystara novels, regarding their dubious quality. I'm gonna need your help on this one though... The Penhaligon trilogy details among other things the life and destiny of Sir Fain Flinn, who eventually through unusual (and rule-breaking) ways end up achieving immortality. Flinn's ideals through all this time (even in his Time of Disgrace) were those of Chivalry. Honor, Glory, Faith and Courage were his virtues. I think it would be natural that he would have become a patron of Chivalry. He only did som recently so he wouldnt be very powerful yet. Any suggestions for what his stats would be? OE and 3E...? Other thoughts? Sure, I've not had yet the time to read all your posts but I'm storing them for my Wendar adventures, so for me they are very useful, please don't stop! :-) Interesting and very useful the books'titles too, because they add a lot of flavour to libraries and bookshop in the game. The 5°lvl spell could led to an adventure by itself, about the 4°lvl spell I'd fear to give to the players a divination spell like that, because players always abuse of divination spells :-) but surely that spell too could be a great adventure seed. bye, Francesco ___________________________________ Yahoo! Yes, the books are definitely good. And yes, we'd like to see more of them :) > Any thoughts on the two new spells would be much appreciated, too. Uhm, the first one, Spectral Vision, seems rather high-powered at first sight. Ok, it doesn't allow to see movement, because it's a single instant in the past, but repeated applications would allow the wizard to accurately tell the history on any given place. OTOH, Princess Carnelia seems to have some time-traveling spell, which would be rather more powerful than Spectral Vision, so 4th level could be in scale with whatever magic Carnelia is using in GAZ3. I'd make it long or costly to cast, or make the outcome image limited in precision by the wizards' knowledge of the region's history or his ability to focus specific point in the past (i.e., his level). The second spell is less troublesome. I'd include some nasty effect for losing a battle of wills with Servitors, but that's just me ;) Bye, GP ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Sep 2005 17:58:34 +0200 From: Giampaolo Agosta Subject: Re: New Immortal: Sir Fain Flinn? Good, now we can tell DM he missed an Immortal :D > I think it would be natural that he would have become > a patron of Chivalry. He only did som recently so he > wouldnt be very powerful yet. Any suggestions for what > his stats would be? OE and 3E...? Well, he's quite recent, chivalry doesn't seem to be a big concern for most Mystarans and those who are concerned with knighthood mostly worship Thor (the General, on the Savage Coast) or Vanya (everywhere), he will need some time to go beyond the Initiate stage. True. However, I like for non-combat spells to be a little more powerful than they are in the original rules. The game just seems more fun when wizards memorize something besides magic missile and ice storm. I'd be interested in some more mundane spells, if anyone has them. I mean the reality is magic could be a lot more helpful for every day life, and may actually produce a more productive and therefore more powerful society over time. Magic that focuses on combat produces a self-destructive society. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Sep 2005 13:13:53 -0500 From: Pat Taylor Subject: (mystara) Ist campaign cont in the last post we began following the campaign i had with a minotaur, tangor wizard, and an ex thyatian gladiator we covered the first 7 sessions....with 2 main adventures Adventure 1: meeting Night of Beginnings Trail Trap Adventure 2: Teoc (Jenn saga) Ruby ride Sibling Strike Free Fire Silent Strike Red Fury we left the three adventures leaving two of their jenn allies dead, and the other just fresh from a slaughter of alphatians. though the three have grudges against alphatia the slaughter wasn't right. While leaving the plains and entring the forrest to the south again the party happens on a Jinn. Estabon lets his dreams run wild, but Majo and Ist are more grounded. The Jinn's original owner finds them....an alphatian wizard...short firght, in which majo and ist set the jinn free to return home...a gesutre not forgotten. During the struggle Majo receives a vison from "back home" and that he must return. this is a long quest in which his compainions join him...along the road the party happen on a small fight between orks and a minean. the aid the minean who name is Tzin, he is a down on his luck swashbuckler...a twin to Estabon except the dark hair...the two argue at first but become fast friends trading jokes...after making short work of the orks, the search of the dead reveal copper coins with a dragon on the reverse....minted by the black dragon society....the four adventures set off toward Tangor for Majo's vision's sake, but also to learn more about their dark skinned companion. after a day of travel the party is assalted by more orks...after short work, a trupet is heard in the back ground...Virgo has returned to with more of his black armored troops- the fight is on, with the party making short work of the black dragon society troops until. an acid blast misses Tzin...."woah" Virgo has a new pet, a small black dragon. the party rereats to the forrest and must hide as they regroup. finding a small cave they readjust their berrings....and make a plan.. Virgo is seaching for them with his "pet" He feels revenge is his....The party surprize Virgo and his pet when they reemerge, ist draws the dragon's attention as Tzin and Estabon go for Virgo....Majo stayed back and uses spells to bring two trees into the fray as giant sprears that penetrate the tough scaley hide of the dragon, fately wounding him. (the dragons in my campaign are very tough...needing +3 weapons are better to damage) so the party had to find a ingenious way to defeat him...they did well) Virgo escapes as Ist finishes off the dying dragon, to end the agony in return for the location of his hoard....finding the treasure the adventures take weapons to ehance their powers....using majo's detection ability.....now the party continues their jouney....moving through the mountains and finally getting to the plains of Tangor. During the journey they have many run ins with orks and goblins, even a minotaur tribe....Ist finds a compainion Myra in this group and earns the tribe's approval in a honor fight. As the group comes into the plains a strange star is shining to the east. a group of Tangor warrior ambush the party, and are made short work of, Majo looks troubled by the warriors, but doesn't answer questions from his companions. the party now consist of Ist- Minotaru warrior Majo- tangor wizard Estabon- Thyatian gladiator Tzin- Minean pirate Myra- Minotaur female warrior/cleric the party is becoming irritated at majo, his usuall closedness is more infuriating since the party is in a land few of their kind have ever been, they want to know what is happening. two days later sounds of a struggle draw their attention....a group of three tangor women and 7 children are being herded by Tangor warriors. then the warriors start beating the helpless women and children Majo is angry and unleashes a magic missle killing one of the warriors...the other party memebers strike....the women speak a different dialect, but majo understands them....the party wanting to know what is going on....are interrupted in their angry tirade at majo by another party of tribes men and an angry looking chief....until he sees Majo. A strange look comes over his face....The warriors begin to move on the party and the party prepares to respond...when majo calls a stop at the same time as the chief...strang words pass betwen them....then they embrace....the party follows the chief and warrior back to the village/town. it is very opulent for a typical villiage.......after rest, bath and a feast, Majo comes back to the party and tells the story....The chief's name is Juli-Den and is his brother. Juli-den is ruling the village now and "leading" it to greatness. while growing up the two were close, but as they grew into manhood, Majo followed the mystics and Juli-den went the path of the warrior. but something is strange, and the story is not adding up....the women and children where rebels who defiled the village and were being executed. but the village folks have a hautend look to their eyes....majo gives each of the party memeber bracelets that are enchanted to undertand the language, but they are disguesed as tribal adornment. they are not to let Juli-den know they understand his speach.....after some investigating in the village, the party discovers that Juli-den has been taken over by a minor demon....and is bent on a rule of terror by subjugating the neaby tribes into an empire....the nearby tribes are gearing to destroy the meneance.....Majo is torn by his love for his brother and his honor. but finally when he sees "juli-den" drop his mask for his true form to suck the soul of a sacrafice. he leads the party to action. The weapons' from the dragon's horde come in handy in defeating the demon and his minions....the tribe is greatful, but fearful as the surrounding tribes are still marching on them. Estabon must confront the warrior leader in a trial by combat to decide if the evil is over. Estabon uses his gladiator experience to make it interesting and entertaining....with a victory though all is well...the tribe wants to make Majo chief, but his cousin is make chief instead....on a side note many young madiens are upset at the leaving of tzin and estabon. With sad conance the party begins their journey back toward the west. well that is it for this installment it covers three adventrues Frogotten Forrest Jouney to Tangor Majo's past let me know what you think ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Sep 2005 20:21:21 +0200 From: =?iso-8859-2?Q?Micha=B3?= Subject: =?iso-8859-2?Q?Re:_[MYSTARA]_Recent_Posts?= ---- Wiadomo¶æ Oryginalna ---- Od: Angelo Bertolli Do: MYSTARA-L@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM Data: Tue, 13 Sep 2005 12:02:02 -0400 Temat: Re: [MYSTARA] Recent Posts > I'd be interested in some more mundane spells, if anyone has them.
