But I haven't yet come up with anything interesting to do in Ostmanhaven. Any ideas? Well, here's a couple of ideas for adventuring in Ostmanhaven: 1) Their trading job may involve buying a specific item; the SE have arranged for Ostman pirates to get information on a transport including, among other reaches, the key item. The PCs (and/or their employers) must know acquire the item without arousing the suspicions of the Ostman mages, who at present ignore the real nature (and value) of the item. 2) While completing their trading operation (the abovementioned one or any other) one or more experienced thieves from the local guild steal a number of important items or a large amount of money. When the PCs set out to recover the stolen items, they have to deal with unusually hostile local authorities (e.g., the locals play blind to whatever request the PCs have). After a while, a stranger contacts the PCs, offering to recover the stolen items -- if the PCs perform a small service for him. The "small service" is smuggling proof of one of the Ostman plots against the king outside Ostland, right when Hord's hound are closing down on the conspirators. Basically, it's a ruse by the jarl to put the blame on "foreign spies". If the PCs manage to complete their mission, that's ok for him; if they fail, he will manage to have them killed before they can convince Hord's agents that they're not involved in any conspiracy. 3) As above, but with internal struggles among Ostman nobles -- with the Jarl playing them against each other, e.g. apparently the PCs are hired by noble (1) to steal from/spy on/assassinate another (2). However, the real employer is the jarl, and the information they are given is purposefully incomplete, so that they are discovered. This triggers some reaction from the supposed victim, with several possible outcomes (the PCs are captured and forced to work for (2) against (1), or (1) is able to survive retribution and hunts down the PCs for involving him in this plot). Anyway, the PCs are caught in the middle and must first understand what's going on, and then either escape or persuade the two nobles that they are being targeted by someone else, or kill both of them. If they flee, a naval battle can be staged. > Next they will rejoin the caravan in Freiburg. One of the PCs is a young and enthusiastic follower of Vanya, so this is a very important moment. I'm still unsure what to do there. Any ideas there? Uhm, I'd play on the contradictions of the HK -- letting the PC follower of Vanya discover one of the less-than-positive aspects of the HK. You can introduce one of the factions by having the caravan deliver something to them. You may choose the Haldis partisans, the Wolves of Heldann, the Fist of Hattias or the Partisans as the party involved with the SE. This will test the loyalties (especially if the goods are going to a rebel group) and/or set some doubts (by putting the Vanya follower in contact with the racist Fist of Hattias). If you want to be more subtle, you may simply let the effects of the Star of Vanya do the work -- showing how these followers of Vanya aren't behaving as /real/ followers of Vanya. I went to look for OD&Dities today, and I couldn't get it to come up. Has it moved? I have a machine at home I use for a server, I can setup hosting for it if the bandwidth requirements are modest enough.
