Taking into account also the link with the Sphere of Entropy, it's more likely that the castle is a leftover from a previous war -- maybe against Alphaks' forces -- that was captured by the Alphatians and kept, as you propose, for further study. Zandor and Norlan, since they can't use regular Alphatian forces for their raid, commandeer this old piece of junk (no one is likely to notice the absence of the castle from whatever parking grounds it was left on), and man it with powerful mercenaries (the pegataurs, air elementals and manscorpions) as well as followers of Alphaks sent to pilot the castle. So basically the castle wouldn't need to be included in the Alphatian regular forces. > - Baron Norlan's mercenaries include 1500 spellcasting pegataurs (of > 5000 troops total), which suggests that maybe the pegataurs are native > to Qeodhar or nearby and not Alphatia and that the Prince just brought > the castle and he supplied the crew. Baron Norlan could have simply hired a company of mercenary pegataurs for this mission -- from the DotE write-up, he doesn't seem to have the resources to hire them on a regular basis. If so, then the pegataurs can be a mercenary company from some Alphatian nation (Floating Ar, most likely) who sell their service to the various Alphatian kingdoms, mostly for intra-Alphatian conflicts (though they might come handy if Alphatia had to defend from an invasion). The castle was a *very* potent force. It is late here now, but I can elaborate on this tomorrow. There is also alot more subtelties to the plot and the motivations of the different nations that I can get into. This should be a good discussion! Talk to you tomorrow, Mystarans! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Giampaolo Agosta" To: Sent: Tuesday, November 15, 2005 4:31 AM Subject: Re: [MYSTARA] Air fleets in Mystara (v2) > Joe Mason ha scritto: > > > > Extreme spoilers for M2: > > Thanks for the help. > > > The flying castle is an "Alphatian marvel" which "belongs to Eriadna the > > Wise, current empress of Alphatia.
