Apart from that I've adapted story elements of Shanarra, Sword of Truth, Wheel of Time and Dragonlance to Mystara. Not huge elements, just flavour - the various temples, locations and orders were the most useful. I was never a Ravenloft fan but someone a while back mentioned using Ravenloft with Glantri and/or Itheldown Isle which got me thinking it would be worthwhile. However the one serious crossover was using the classic giants modules, slavers modules and Temple of Elemental Evil. I used all three, plus the Witch Queen Iggwilv as a kind of 'Axis of Evil' for reason/justification for Thyatis to annex Traladara. Unfortunately the players never saw the political picture I was trying to paint for them. *sigh* On 11/26/05, Aaron Nowack wrote: > *delurks* > > Giampaolo Agosta wrote: > > For one, several adventure modules fit quite well, if you replace > > psionics with magic: > > - Road to Urik can be used as a nice variant on the War of the Desert > > Nomads theme; it would work best for one of the City-States, Zagora or > > Nova Svoga. > > At one point, I was planning to run a heavily modified version of this > as "Road to Sayr Ulan," with the PCs as DDC agents trying to help a > rebellion against Hulean rule in Sind. ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Nov 2005 06:46:01 -0800 From: Thibault Sarlat Subject: Re: Northern Wildlands Map i was just killing... Well, that's more of a cross-setting link -- there are a few items in Ravenloft that come from Mystara (specifically, the Mists were originally the mists of Castle Amber), and some that were retrofitted (the Darklord Meredoth and the islands of Todstein and Graben). > However the one serious crossover was using the classic giants > modules, slavers modules and Temple of Elemental Evil. I don't remember what it was like, but anyway a connection could be drawn with ancient Nithian or Taymoran cults. > Unfortunately the players never saw the political picture I was trying > to paint for them. :) GP ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Nov 2005 23:32:20 +0100 From: Giampaolo Agosta Subject: Re: Adapting materials from other settings Aaron Nowack ha scritto: > > At one point, I was planning to run a heavily modified version of this > as "Road to Sayr Ulan," with the PCs as DDC agents trying to help a > rebellion against Hulean rule in Sind. Yes, this version could fit better with the desertic theme of Road to Urik. It could also be used as an introduction to X4, maybe. > I did some very preliminary work on this, which I believe is preserved > on the Vaults as "Gith of Mystara". Oh, yes, I remember that piece. Another interesting point in using Black Spine could be the introduction of Mujina as temporary allies of the PCs -- since the Mujina fear psionicists, they would take direct action against extraplanar invaders with powerful mind powers, allowing the PCs to cooperate with this usually aggressive species. It's fine to be back and see everything is as wonderful as it was, yessirs! My current Campaign is run in Glantry, as maybe someone of you remembers, but most of our Adventuring takes place in the Realm of Dreams. It is a brand new Demiplane, completely made up by our DM, that resembles some features of the "actual world", somewhat changing and transforming the way everything looks and behaves (people, also, PCs included) As far as I know, my DM has collected ideas from different sources, melting them up in a personal setting. Some of those sources come from literature (e.g. Tel' aran' rhiod, the World of Dreams in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time), but he also took a lot of hints from Ravenloft. If you want to know more details about it, I will try to have him writing down something for us, should I?
