MUDs are old school online games played over telnet. They usually resemble text adventures (like Zork), but offer interaction with others. http://www.mudconnect.com/mudfaq/ All you really need to play is telnet. But MS telnet sucks so much you can't even see what you're typing. There are some free MUD clients out there like Zmud or Gmud which are basically better telnet clients with some nice commands for playing muds (e.g. being able to use the number pad for n,s,e,w) Angelo On Wed, 2 Mar 2005 12:38:39 -0800, Ohad Shaham (Morphail) wrote: > What in Alphaks' tail is a MUD? > > Gees, you go on your buisness in the real world and > things evolve in the virtual one. Play it off and on myself, though I haven't played online in a while. There are only a couple of servers I've found that I've enjoyed. There is a Mystara server based in Australia that I played on a couple of times, and its set in Karameikos- has Black Eagle factions, shadowelves, etc. The campaign source material is pretty good, but the general populace isn't really Mystara oriented. The Mystara stuff seems to just serve as a backdrop for different kinds of play- I've seen people play drow on there, and all kinds of "non-Mystara" concepts. Some are from Waterdeep and Greyhawk, etc. There wasn't much of an overarching plot that I could see, either, though I admittedly was never around for any DM events. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Mar 2005 17:47:23 -0800 From: Andrew Theisen Subject: Re: Mystara MUD Curious- how similar is the MUD client coding to a MUSH client?
