During our final session =20 we checked our logs and noticed that we have played continuously for 1 =20 1/2 years, once a week. The longest break has been 2 weeks... phew. A =20 month away from designing next week=B4s scenario is so welcome. ---- The campaign was left at a nice cliffhanger. The PCs managed to track =20 the fate of the stolen manuscripts. Some scattered notes made by the =20 dead translator were recovered (an ink bottle had tipped over them, so =20 the assassins didn't take them with them - I had a nice time drafting =20 those handouts. It was like Jules Verne's Captain Grant all over again). It seems that the manuscripts contained volatile historico-political =20 information on the Flaem people, their ancient religions and their =20 connection with not only Aplhatia but Alphaks. The book was an old =20 Flaem prayer book that deal with fire elementalist religion. All in =20 all, very incriminating in Glantri. The translator had realised their =20 value and danger and decided to contact Vanserie Vlaardoen, acting as =20 a mediator in the trade. All would have been nice, but the translator used an agent of the =20 Fellowship of Pouch to contact the Prince. The agent of Pouch read the =20 letter, and the organisation decided to hijack the manuscripts and =20 trade them themselves. The PCs learned most of this, taking a ride in Luigi Zispaghi's =20 condola, using a necromantic scroll from the Flaem mage's tomb, and =20 squabbling endlessly over interpretations. In the end they used their =20 contact in the secret service and sold all of their information =20 concerning the issue. (A lucky decision, as the agent was working for =20 Jherek's close relative. The Krohandar faction are enemies of the =20 Flaems, and could use that information.) The manuscripts were never =20 recovered, however. 30) Secrets revealed? The Corun merchants called the PCs and told them that the final stage =20 in their mission is near. In a few days they will accompany the =20 merchants and act as security guards in "final negotiations". The PCs =20 know only that some mercandise will be delivered and important =20 negotiations will take place. If all goes well, say the merchants, =20 they can return to Darokin, where thay will be rewarded handsomely. The negotiations will of course be between the Corun conspirators and =20 the Shadowelf agents of Xatapechli. There are two main items to =20 discuss. First, the Shadowelves wish to know if all the mercenaries =20 have been recruited and sent to Favaro (wherefrom they will be sent in =20 secret to Alfheim City, but the merchants don't know that). If this is =20 okay, the Coruns get to keep all the monetary winnings from the =20 contraband trade. Second, the Coruns are supposed to deliver the =20 special equipment acquired during the operation: the Egg of Phoenix, =20 the Evil Spirit totem, and the fireball wands from Landesfjord. (All =20 of these will be used in the assault on Alfheim City - again, the =20 merchants don't know this.) If these items are delivered, the Shadowelves agree to finalise the =20 deal by eliminating the current head of House Corun, Nathalie Kalimi. =20 Thus the conspirators can take over the House. (The shadowelves =20 consider this a bonus: a friendly Darokinian House will aid them in =20 the future. Still, the Alfheim City assault is now their primary goal.) But the Corun merchants have a surprise item on the list. The PCs =20 unwittingly sold them two powerful items from the Flaem mage's grave. =20 These items allow the summoning of powerful fire elementals and their =20 control. Although the merchants don't know the exact SE plans, they =20 can guess that such items would be useful. So: they agree to hand the =20 items over, if the SE help these particular merchants to take over the =20 conspiracy. They are not the most senior members of the old-Corun =20 cabal, but they are in a central position. If the current head of the =20 cabal is killed, they can easily take over. --> This will be an important moment for the PCs. There are various =20 threads that they might take up, and contingies can always arise: - One of the PCs has been keeping contact with the Umbarth House. The =20 Umbrathians have a presence in Glantri City, and they will want to =20 know what is going on (they have learned that the Coruns are planning =20 something). - The PCs have also made a temporary alliance with the agent of the =20 Glantrian secret service. Will they try to betray the merchants? - Of course they might wish to eavesdrop on the negotiations =20 themselves, as they still don't know what is going on. - A third party may try to spy on the negotiations (perhaps agents of =20 the Radiant Shaman, who is worried about Xatapechli) ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 17 Jun 2006 to 19 Jun 2006 (#2006-123) ****************************************************************
