Lahde, probably from somewhere in the northern reaches ), decided to waive the the idea of a winter war and invade Darokin during spring, which will be very soon in our campaign. Now I have some further questions arising in the preparation of the campaign. 1. I don't very much like the idea of the characters being the "ones chosen by fate", since that would give rise to the question, why glantrian wizards have been predicting the invasion for months but not bothered to tell the darokinians about it (as can be concluded from the flavour text in the module). I think, in time with the invasions of Akesoli, some elite agents of the master will kill every single foreign ambassador of darokin, so the DDC will be in some uproar. New ambassadors will fear being appointed and the darokin ambassadors are acustomed to dealing with trade agreements, not with alliance forging. Therefore General Winter with the help of Laran is on the lookout for trustworthy and capable adventurers who have earned their merits within Darokin and the PCs are the ones appearing. For those, who have played X10: how did you draw your charaters into the plot? Were they "chosen by fate" or did you use some other adventure hook? 2. Since we have converted to 3.5 ed D&D most of the module is quite straightforward to convert. A bit trickier are the juggernauts. Here are my suggestions: Juggernaut Wood huge construct HD 25d10+43 (181 hp) Ini +2 Speed 30 ft AC 22 (-2 size, -2 dex, +16 natural, touch: 6) Base attack +18 Attack 1 slam +26 (2d6+15) Full Attack 1 slam +26 (2d6+15) Space/Reach 15ft / 20ft (front only) spec. Attack Trample 8d10 spec. qual. construct traits, vulnerability to magic fire, DR 10/magic or melee, frightful presence saves F+10, R+6, W+8 abilities ST30, DX7, CO-, IN7, WS11, CH10 Stone gargantuan construct HD 30d10+66 (231 hp) Ini +1 Speed 20 ft AC 24 (-4 size, -3 dex, +21 natural, touch: 3) Base attack +22 Attack 1 slam +33 (3d6+22) Full Attack 1 slam +33 (3d6+22) Space/Reach 20ft / 25ft (front only) spec. Attack Trample 10d10 spec. qual. construct traits, resist 10 (cold, fire, electr.), DR 15 / magic, frightful presence saves F+12, R+7, W+13 abilities ST41, DX5, CO-, IN8, WS12, CH10 feats for both: power attack, cleave, awesome blow, imp. bull rush, imp. nat. attack (slam), great fortitude, imp. initiative, blind-fight, toughness. In addition the stone juggernaut has iron will and a second toughness. I am especially unsure if the abilities are sensible, so any comments are welcome here. However you gave me an idea about the ambassador mission. In lots of my games (fantasy or sci fi or modern) the players were very mercenary and prone to causing lots of collateral damage. I quit trying to set up scenarios where they could be heroic and eventually the people who sought them out were those who (1) wanted collateral damage (2) intended the PCs to fail so the enemy's strengths could be tested (3) use the PCs as cannon fodder to weaken the enemy (4) set up the PCs to die. Regardless of the heroics of your PC group if the DDC can't find willing ambassadors (as you suggest) then why not hire the PCs as the diversion - they are told they are the ambassadors, act accordingly but really the DDC has sent their top or perhaps retired ambassador incognito to the various nations. Perhaps the same place at the same time as the PCs or perhaps different places. Been thinking on a possible way to bring them into the campaign. One way could be an unknown side effect of the Nucleus of the Spheres and the Chamber of the Spheres in conjunction with one another that would have wide ranging effects (or only a local effect). All of this would start after the Chamber is activated which would limit the number of sorcerers in Mystara. Such as no high level sorcerers for a number of years in game time as it would be relatively new. ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2006 12:26:09 EDT From: Edmund Kreger Subject: Re: X10 request for comments A question about the juggernauts. Are these juggernauts made to look like people or are you basing them on the Juggernauts from the Monster Manual 2? I have the Stats for the juggernauts for 3.5 as I have the MM 2 and could give you the stats for them if you wanted. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2006 00:06:58 +0200 From: Knud Gentz Subject: Re: X10 request for comments Edmund, I didn't know, they were described in MM2, since I don't own that book. But after a quick look into a friend's copy, yes, they are exactly what I looked for.
