Perhaps they even had to use a binding spell on an Elemental Ruler of Air to be able to access such a vast amount of that element. Could be an interesting adventure idea of that Ruler gets free and comes after the descendants of those who caused this devastation upon his realm. This gets us back to the question of Where Alphatia is: 1)A separate plane, probably not bigger than a solar system. (WotI's sollution) 2)Somewhere in Mystara's Galaxy. (M1 states this. I see very few advantages with making it a separate plane other than it being accessible through plane travel.) 3)Somewhere within Mystara's Solar system. Somewhere within Mystara's Galaxy does not rule out this option. It is contradicted by the part from DotE about the whole solar system being filled with Air though, but it could be made to work if not actually the whole solar system, but only parts of it were filled with air, and it would make it easier to travel to Old Alphatia by Void Ships...
