You mean "sorcerer" as in 3e? If so, it depends on what you want to focus on -- the idea of innate magic ability or the idea of being able to select spells at casting time rather than at memorization time. The first might be appropriate for high-magic societies, like Old Alphatia. The latter is more flexible (being simply mechanical). However, it's somewhat more difficult to implement in OD&D, since the magic-user spell selection is already quite limited (and the wokan selection is even more limited). Maybe the wokan could be recast as a sorcerer-like spellcaster, though. Also, over time the "academic" version of magic was able to create new spells, but say the original natural (sorerers magic) was limited to the original spell lists (maybe with extra spells per day or ability to choose at casting time). However, I do like the Hakoman penalties for gaining said knowledge, and a limit on the number of spells that a sorcerer know how to cast (similar to 3e IIRC[I don't have my 3e books to hand atm, so if I'm wrong on that sue me]). I always saw the Wokan as more of a sorcerer type figure that had to go through certain rituals to get the desired effect. -----Original Message----- From: Mystara RPG Discussion [mailto:MYSTARA-L@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM] On Behalf Of Giampaolo Agosta Sent: 03 March 2006 07:58 To: MYSTARA-L@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM Subject: Re: [MYSTARA] Sorcerer in BD&D rules Mark Howard ha scritto: > Has anyone developed rules for placing a sorcerer type class in BD&D rules. > I'm thinking along the lines of the Hakomon class from GAZ11, but I'm not sure about the isolationist and restriction tendencies, especially in less tribal societies (although I think a more or less direct translation could work in say in the Atruaghin Clans). Yes, AC seems good for sorcerers. Mark, are you a member of the Mystara3E Yahoogroup?
