I think a stable wiki somewhere would help the Mystara community as part of the overall group of creative outlets and information sources over the Internet. In terms of a wiki being on the Vaults, I'm not against the idea or anything. The Vaults is hosted on a service by a web-hosting company. I don't enough about the technical side of wikis and don't know if it's even an option for me to put onto the Vaults. I was thinking Wikipedia really took off in content for a reason. But there's another issue for Pandius that I didn't think about: since it's the "official" site, we can't just let people do ANYTHING they want. I mean it still has to be Mystara, right? yep definitely, so a closer eye would have to be kept on things, definitely. ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Mar 2006 07:59:05 -0500 From: shawn stanley Subject: Re: Pandius wiki At 04:08 PM 10/03/2006, you wrote: > The problem is, I believe, that you cannot prevent people from "contributing" to an article, even if they know nothing. that would probably one of the things for each individual primary author of an article to think about before putting an article onto a wiki. And it would also be a consideration for the need of editorial control throughout the life of the article on a wiki. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Mar 2006 08:06:13 -0500 From: shawn stanley Subject: Re: Pandius wiki I think one of the issues with the Mystara community is that it is still divided between Basic D&D, 2nd Edition and 3rd Edition. So a small active contributor base is further made smaller. So a small active contributor base is further made smaller. That's one reason. Another is that we tend to write lots of different things rather than a campaign setting or other "core" resource. In part, this may be due to the fact that people use different rules set, but it may also be related to the fact that Mystara never had a "core" book -- so we follow in the Gazetteer style of detailing new regions.
