I've always liked the Vaults =20 because you can find alternative versions of the same thing, like =20 three different histories of a country etc. None of them is more =20 official than the other. The fanmade Almanacs seem to be the only thing that approached =20 "officialness", but nevertheless that never forbade anyone to =20 contribute conflicting material. On the MMB the cool projects on new Gazetteers have also touched on =20 the issue, like finally pinpointing the location of Ghyr etc. But even =20 if a good collaborated Gazetteer on Wendar-Denagoth-Ghyr was written, =20 that surely wouldn't make any alternative contributions on those areas =20 worthless. To be precise: I like the Gaz projects, as they are an easy way to =20 access a lot of info that was previously scattered. But I also like =20 that one can "tune" the Gazs by referring to the earlier discussions, =20 to make them more suitable to one's own campaign. Also: it is always nice when people write their contributions and try =20 to make them fit with other people's texts. But it is not always =20 possible, as some main choices on ambiguous issues affect the text - =20 location of Blackmoor, location of Ghyr, historical placement of =20 official modules like X11 or XL1 (before 1000AC? in 1000AC? During =20 "the present"?). It is good to have texts that cover all these choices. An idea of a comprehensive Mystraran wiki, encyclopedia-style, might =20 direct this community more towards exclusive, one-alternative =20 approach. But of course this can be handled through explicit policy =20 statement. I think it would be a good idea to keep fan-created info strictly separate from canonical info. I started one of these myself (you can find an old thread about it on the message board, called "Joe's Secret Project"), but I got too busy - no, no, let's be fair here. I slacked off too much and it never really got off the ground. I'm afraid now I *am* too busy, but good luck to you!
