I remember it's "to the west" of the known world but can't seem to find a map or where it should be located. Also anyone know of a way to get the Orcs of Thar, Aturaghin Clans, & Wrath of Immortals as PDFS? And I do mean LEGITLY. ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jan 2006 18:28:50 +0100 From: Giampaolo Agosta Subject: Re: Sylvan Realm Daniel ha scritto: > I have a question, where is the Sylvan Realm (X11(?)) located at? I remember it's "to the west" of the known world but can't seem to find a map or where it should be located. IIRC, it's on the western coast of Brun. And it's not from X11, but from one of the CM modules -- don't remember which one right now. > Also anyone know of a way to get the Orcs of Thar, Aturaghin Clans, & Wrath of Immortals as PDFS? And I do mean LEGITLY. AFAIK, RPGNow is the only store that carries ESDs, and they don't have this titles. This may mean that the ESD creation process was interrupted before these items were released. Try asking on the MMB as well -- more likely that someone with WotC contacts reads there. Paizo.com appears to have the Atruaghin Clans Gaz as a PDF; no sign of the other two products though. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jan 2006 13:16:59 -0600 From: Daniel Subject: Re: Sylvan Realm Thanks to both of you. It's CM7 or 8, was looking at X11 as well and mistyped. I remembered from the module it was on Brun but seems like no-one puts it on any of the maps. Looking at one from pandius it seems like near the arm of the immortals (where it originally was) or in the midlands would've been good places to put it (lots of forests). I've talked to someone recently who lives in the same town I do, we're both planning on taking as much as we can into the Hero System, why? well why not :) Giampaolo Agosta wrote: ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jan 2006 13:40:53 -0800 From: The Stalker Subject: Re: Sylvan Realm On Sun, 8 Jan 2006 13:16:59 -0600, Daniel wrote: > Thanks to both of you. I don't think the adventure itself officially places the Sylvan Realm on a map, though it does suggest it should be in the northwest corner of the continent (Brun). The Alfheim gazetteer does have the Sylvan Realm on the map of elven migrations on p.6 - it's far north of the Arm of the Immortals, on the northwestern coast, where it's separated from the rest of Brun by a mountain range, which the outer world map from the Hollow World boxed set names the Endworld Line. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jan 2006 18:34:40 -0800 From: Andrew Theisen Subject: Re: Sylvan Realm Daniel wrote: Also anyone know of a way to get the Orcs of Thar, Aturaghin Clans, & Wrath of Immortals as PDFS? And I do mean LEGITLY. You can get the PDF of the Atruaghin Clans from Paizo for $4. (http://paizo.com), though they don't seem to have the Orcs of Thar or Wrath of the Immortals. I don't seem to be able to find either of them, actually. You might drop a line at the Paizo boards or website to see if they might still be working on releasing some of the earlier supplements as ESDs, since they seem to have Gaz14 when no one else does. It could be that they are continuing to scan and prepare accessories and modules and the like. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jan 2006 20:45:53 -0600 From: Daniel Subject: Re: Sylvan Realm Thanks, I have paper copies (my GAZ1 seems to be misplaced and I know 13 was stolen years ago), would like to have them on PDF to save wear and tear. I emailed rpgnow about it and haven't heard back yet (no telling if I will). Now just to put some notes together, do an outline and open up InDesign.... Good question. From the Gaz, it appears as if the forested region of the Elk clan is the (seemingly only) region of the plateau to receive steady amounts of rainfall. Presumably the lakes up there also receive some in order to be able to continue to remain filled. Not a wholly satisfactory answer to be sure. A more plausible explanation is that the lakes are fed by some sort of interplanar gate/wormhole to the Plane of Water, presumably opened by Atruaghin (or possibly some other Clans shaman, in the post-Atruaghin days, in order to accomodate an obvious need). Another possibility (perhaps related to the Plane of Water gate) is that there is an underground source within the plateau itself (where there might be some other, hidden, insular and oft forgotten Clan residing- Children of the Badger, anyone?) As for the Elk clan, if you look at pictures of Mesa Verde plateau (here are a couple of images- http://umsis.miami.edu/~dwhitley/Summer%202004/Summer%202004/Mesa%20Verde%20Recropped.jpg http://www.dinoruss.org/utah2001-photos/siu-course/price/med/mesa-verde-tracks6-med.jpg), or even pictures of Sonoma and such in Arizona, it seems reasonable to assume that there are trees all up and down the length of the plateau- that it need not be some stark, barren rock mesa from top to bottom. Perhaps the portion of the plateau that the Elk Clan inhabits is a more gradual slope than other areas, such that it might catch more rainfall, and such precipitation might drain off down the cliff, forming some streams and rivers and such, and making it a more forested area than elsewhere. (To be sure, though, without some sort of magical explanation, it is going to be a far cry from the more fertile Eastern Woodlands terrain that the Elk Clan is based on- think the Iriquois if they were transplanted to Northern Arizona rather than Illinois.) ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 6 Jan 2006 to 8 Jan 2006 (#2006-5) ************************************************************
