The game designers working with TSR back in those days, even in the later period were only a handful of people really, and most of the big ones were involved with Mystara at some point. That could be another reason why ideas from Mystara later appeared elsewhere. Also, settings like Birthright and Ebberon seem to be based around more fine tuned concepts earlier appearing in the Mystara setting... That is my impression anyway... Subject: Re: Japanese Rules Cyclopedia That was very, very cool. I wonder if the idea to do the game in three volumes was inspired in any way by the original boxed set? Too bad, too, that our Rules Cyclopedia wasn't blessed with the interesting artwork that theirs got. I don't *hate* Terry Dykstra's artwork, but it's soooo boring! The art in the Japanese version was really a breath of fresh air. I started playing with the original boxed set, a few month's before the Monster Manual came out, whenever that was. I don't think that beats out George, but I think I'm a close second for old-timer here. :P R.
