I'm surprised something as mainstream as greeting card sales would have promoted a sub-culture item like D&D in 1982. Do you think they understood what it was? I've never really been a fan of Elmore or Easly. Yes, they're more "realistic" and definitely slick, but I prefer my fantasy art to actually be expressive more than representative. And don't get me started on Caldwell. Later, R. Havard Faanes wrote: --- "Richard B." skrev: > That was very, very cool. Here's a question for the old goats out there- did any of you ever use the 1st ed. J. Eric Holmes Basic D&D? It's the one with that hideous DCS III cover. I picked up a copy last week and found it to be a little surprising. Later, R. Chris Cherrington wrote: I think George beats me by a year, I can't remember that far back... The only new big buying craze for a system was when Vampire first came out, then that died a year later, as I had nobody to play with.
