Therefore, I took advantage of this to slightly revise a few of these schools, just to make sure the 3E version was more balanced. Yes, you're right. Some Crafts, in their original writing, are very unbalanced. > I have also playtested all of these classes along a campaign, and I tend to believe that they work pretty well. > However, it should be noted that these classes have purposely been made quite powerful, at the level of Magic of Faerun or FR Prestige Classes for spellcasters, just to give you a reference. The idea is that there must be a sound in-game reason to justify why Glantrian wizards are so feared and respected and they are not easily crushed by Alphatian arch-wizards of corresponding level. On the other hand, obtaining levels in Secret Crafts Prestige Classes is by no mean easy, to say the least, if compared with the trivial requisites necessary for most of the Prestige Classes you can find in Tome & Blood and the like. You're again right :) Glantrian wizards are famous and powerful, so they need a justification for this. The Crafts and, maybe, the two kits presented in G:KoM could offer a prove. Obviously, IMHO, the prerequisites for the new Prestige Classes have to be higher. > There's a drawback of course: I have written the Prestige Classes in my own mother language, which happens to be Italian, and I am not planning to translate in English, since it is a pretty thick "supplement" (around 40 pages: it is very detailed, Magic of Faerun style as I said) and it would be too painful to look for the exact English translation of all the 3E game terms (which would be necessary to make a rigorous job). My mother language is Italian! If you are willing to share your work, I'd be happy to help you in the translation to English :) ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Apr 2006 18:31:18 +0200 From: Havard Faanes Subject: Re: Age of Worms (in Mystara) I've only read the Age of Worms material from Dragon, and when you're not familiar with whats in Dungeon, it is really hard to make anything out of it IMO. I see what you mean. I dont feel the G:KoM spells fit into that category though, since the words used have a more archaic feel to them. "Draw forth Truth" sounds better than "Make person tell the truth" for instance. > 2) Ones that think that naming the spell after the > Wizard who invented it makes it unique, like "Emirikol's Question" I have mixed feelings about these. My problem with them is actually that they usually refer to some NPC from Greyhawk, except for Nystul's spells which refers to Mike Nystul, a player. If they had referred to Mystaran mages it would have been better. But again, another problem with the Greyhawk ones is that those mages are still alive. This would be weird for spells that are found in every wizards spellbook IMHO... The Yellow King is ofcourse the King in Yellow aka Hastur from the Cthulhu Mythos. I have been vague about who he is in Mystara, but IMO Arik fits very well, though I have decided to leave him out of my own campaign since my last campaign, with the same players involved Arik so heavily. > Also, as to the Cauldron, I looked at it. I hoped it would be more of a mini setting. Oh well, money saved then I guess. Trampier’s "Emirikol the Chaotic" Truly, one of the classic illustrations of the time, "Emirikol the Chaotic" would likely be at the top of anyone’s list. From a technical standpoint, this drawing is fabulous, but really, like with most Trampier drawings, it is the implied story that really draws the viewer in. A late afternoon battle in the city streets between a known criminal wizard and city guardsmen? An assassination outside of the Green Griffon? Or a rampage of evil that threatens the city? Whatever the true story is, it is certainly a masterpiece of D&D illustration that one can find in the Dungeon Master’s Guide. Håvard --- Steven Carter skrev: > Welcome. That was images.google.com.
