In fact, until very recently (soon after the Wrath of the Immortals War), clerical magic was completely forbidden in the Principalities. An astromancer is actually an idea I'm toying around with. Whereas astronomers are the "scientists" of the stars and heavenly planets, and astrologers are the mystics in the field, astromancers would be wizards who can harness the powers of the planets and stars... A bit complicated, because one has to study the mundane field of astronomy, understand the mystical/supernatural effects of astrology, then actually apply it in the magic of astromancy. Kit Navarro High all, (just joined up to the list so first time in posting) I know it's not Mystara relevent but you might want to look at Mongoose Publishing's Enclyopedia Arcane: Star Magic for some very good idea's/ inspiration on doing this in 3e rules. I don't have the book handy at the moment but it basically describes a way of "channelling" stars and constellations to get magic effects. Night of Red Moon happens yearly (15th Vatermont IIRC). during this night wizards are more "linked" with magic and can increase their magical abilities but these effects could prove dangerous to mages themselves. Canon sources say nothing more about it. The idea of were-creatures going crazy is pretty good however and could be worth to be developed, expecially in a nation like Glantri, full of those creatures....:-) I'm goint to fancy about were-wolves and so wandering through Glantri City spreading blood and violence (maybe were-sharks attacking glantrian gondolas) while a lot of wizards cannot stop them suffering the Red Moon itself :-) :-) Marco Fossati Francisco Navarro ha scritto: Hi! IIRC, this is already what happens on the Night of the Red Moon over Glantri - Patera passes over Matera, causing it to appear red. The Glantrians already have such supersitions (maybe true) regarding arcane magic. (I don't have my canon sources right now.) Of course, this may also occus in some other latitude/longitude at some other occasions over Mystara, but AFAIK, it's a regular occurrence over Glantri. --------------------------------- Yahoo! My name is Dennis, I'm 35 and been playing the D&D = game=20 since the "Easy to Master" boxed set...wow, seems like such a long time = ago. =20 Always have had a small group of players, usually between 3 to 5. = Started=20 with the Known World and have devored everything Mystara I could get my = hands=20 on. =20 I also have been a Ravenloft fan and currently DM my group through that = =20 campaign. However, I've made strong ties between Mystara and RL, = including the=20 fact that our newest PC is an Outlander from Karameikos. Plus, my group = has=20 already played through "Castle Amber" as part of the RL game. =20 We've been playing with Second Edition rules till just recenlty. Now = with=20 the 3E rules I realized how great they are for Mystara and now been = thinking=20 of running a new Mystara campaign in 3E, hence I figured I'd resign up to = the=20 list to see what everyone's been up to with such a great setting. =20 So far I've seen some great threads and it's great to see so many fans =20 keeping the setting alive.
