Bargle would simply be an informal version of that. IMC Bargle hates that name and noone dares to use it in his presence. Except the Black Eagle Baron himself ofcourse, who uses it all the time... I love what the Baron does to 'remind' people of his 'supreme station'! :) Has anyone done a detailed history of Bargle for their campiagn - the story of how he ended up where he did? I grew up with people playing the word puzzle game boggle and a boggle is a kind of celtic hearth spirit. According the the nigh omniscient Wikipedia there is also a beagle / terrier mix-breed dog called a boggle. It would make sense then that he is a Thyatian-Traldaran and the name Bargle is a "pet" name used only by Baron Ludwig. If one chose to add all those meanings to their campaign. In his way Bargle is one of the baron's hounds. Except that he was introduced (to the players, in the 1983 Basic Set) as using that name, infamous with that name. The fighter, from the solo adventures in that set, goes out specifically to hunt down Bargle, a notorious bandit, and it's also in the DM narration for the first group adventure there as well. So it doesn't make sense for Bargle to be a "pet name". C(hristopher) Richard Davies. Advocate for Darkness, Part-Time Champion of Light. Jimmy: This isn't an adventure story. Is it, Mr. Hayes? Hayes: No, Jimmy. It's not. -- from "King Kong" (2005) ____________________________________________________________________________________ Need Mail bonding? Go to the Yahoo! The books weren't written in stone by the Immortals after all. It's not Planck's Constant or Avogadro's Number. ;) Imagine children in the street calling out "Bargle! Bargle!" And the mighty wizard not being able to burn them down where they stand.
