Have your groups been silly and intentive in their use of magic? (In OD&D) And if so, do you have cool examples? Our group is quite powerful and have often access to allies of equal status. (Though not by any means are they invulnerable.) In several instances =20 they have done commando-style raids augmented by magic, especially on =20 camps of enemy armies etc. The usual: everyone is hasted, flying and =20 invisible. But for a long time they had one problem: sound. Heavily armed and =20 armoured fighters simply cannot sneak. Sure, you can Silence someone, =20 but 1) the person needs to fail a saving throw (risk of wasting spells) 2) silence permits communication, which is often vital in combat In OD&D you cannot cast Silence on an item. So they came up with a =20 solution. They have a small animal, they cast Silence on it and dump =20 it before going to action. So they can approach not only unseen but =20 also unheard. But it doesn't end here. The next thing they invented was: You have =20 the animal in a bag or a cage tied to a rope. Thus in need of silence =20 you can reel back the animal. You gotta give them credit. Endnote: I don't have any problem with the players fooling around with magic. =20 Forcing them to play by some arbitrary code of conduct would only sour =20 the play. And I've come up with countermeasures :) But do you have similar experiences? ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2007 14:57:07 +0000 From: la Volpe Subject: Re: Silly Magic-Use This is incredibly brilliant!=0AMy players will find a villain that will lo= ve this idea...=0A=0A(insert evil DM grin here)=0A=0AGiulio=0A=0A=0A----- M= essaggio originale -----=0ADa: Ville V Lahde =0AA: MY= STARA-L@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM=0AInviato: Gioved=EC 15 marzo 2007, 12:44:37=0AO= ggetto: [MYSTARA] Silly Magic-Use=0A=0A=0AIn OD&D you cannot cast Silence o= n an item.
